Begging is an old profession as man,the disabled ones beg just to make a living..in those days, people see beggars as those who really need to be helped as their religion is in great support of it..
In today's world, beggars are increasing at an alarming rate in the north, people engaged in it just for their daily bread, ilorin as a case study, children who were supposed to be in school dropped out in order to dabble into the profitable business, not because they are the lazy type but because they don't have who to provide the need for them.. breadwinners, widows were also involved in this greedy activity, able bodied men were also not left out, they ventured into it as their only means of survival..
Many nefarious act have been carried out by begging, many naive people have been robbed off their properties, while some had lost their lives to beggars, the atrocities carried out by them cannot be under emphasised, the irony about begging is that they make more money than the average hustling man, many people have been brainwashed by their religion leaders about the benefit of giving alms, while some kind hearted Nigerians never cease to show their undying love to beggars...
Begging should be shunned in any saner climes, it abert terrorism, robbery and gangsterism, the best way to eradicate begging is for the government to empower the people, give them the best of education and watch as begging of a thing become the past....
