Boss Mustapha, the Secretary to the Government of the Federation (SGF) has said it is not easy for President Muhammadu Buhari to sack service chiefs.

Mr Mustapha stated this on Tuesday while addressing newsmen after a book presentation titled CAN, Religion, politics and power in Nigeria by former General Secretary of Christian Association of Nigeria(CAN) Engr Samuel Salifu.

There have been calls from Nigerians to the president advising him to oust service chiefs over rising insecurity across the country.

Although the National Assembly joined in making the call, the president seems unperturbed and has looked the other way.

For the SGF, there are processes that must be followed by the president in ousting the service chiefs, saying it is not easy as those making the calls think.

“You don’t sack people like that. There are processes and I believe that at the opportune time, those processes will be followed. You don’t just wake up and say sack people, it doesn’t happen like that,” Mr Mustapha stated.

He called for the cooperation of Nigerians in ensuring the country is safe.

“At this moment, what we need is for everybody to be on the same page, fight the battle of securing the nation for protecting lives and property and ensuring that every Nigerian has the opportunity to live a prosperous live. I think that should be our main focus,” he said.

“We are in a very difficult time now. We need everybody to be on board. We need synergy within intelligent community, within the military formations that will help fight this war.

“We are in a very difficult situation and when we begin to create cracks and divisions, who will be the beneficiaries?

“The adversaries are the ones that are going to exploit those deficiencies and further the cause of destabilising the nation,” the SGF added.

Meanwhile, the presidency has said ousting the security chiefs will not stop insecurity across the country.

cool

Its is very easy as the Commander in Chief, but when an elder is too exposed to his children, and his children knows too much of his secret then he cant act swiftly..

And unfortunate step by Buhari against people who knows the real secret would back fire and he and his gang of font men called Cabals might get jailed as he and his side kick Idiagbo got booted out and jailed back then.. Buhari is just being calm to claim his own arse , this is why he as also refused to charge terrorist to court rather than rehabilitate and release them.. Buhari is in a very tight corner

Why should PMB sack the service chiefs?
The killings is internal so thereby security of live and property of Nigeria citizen is Nigeria Police's responsibility. People should be calling for IG's head instead of service chiefs who are more of external security. People need to be educated on how this kinda thing works.
Sacking top Security officers will lot solve the problem.

Uncle, nobody sack Fowler, his tenure in that office expired. And can you list Osinbajo's aides that were sacked..

once again, the header has been construed to elicit rancor and outpour. The fact that persons still absolve the IG of police while calling for the sack of the service chiefs shows that there is a dearth of knowledge on certain things that prevail the security landscape

so, the service chiefs' tenure haven't expired too and that's why buhari is still keeping them, contrary to the stipulation of our constitution Abi? Let's be honest for once and leave partisan politics aside, what's sauce for the goose is sauce for the gander.

Majority of them worked under the NSIP and since the schemes were moved to a new ministry, they were relocated to the ministry. Remember when the news broke out that they were sacked, Buhari himself came back from abroad and debunked the news that nothing like that, that they were only relocated to another ministry . You can google that sir

I just felt whe whole arrangememt was politically motivated. I got your point and you're quite correct. I'm also quite aware of the story. But why did you think those guys protested after their removal? Why did Buhari's aides not affected because we learnt the aides he had were more than that of the VP which is understandable as president? What if removal of Muirs banire?

The Nigerian Armed Forces has become a critical part of the internal security architecture in recent times.

That's why there are military check points all over the country. Also, the military is the arrow head tackling terrorism in the North East.

So, for me, the whole security 'apparatchik' needs to be overhauled starting with the service chiefs...
