Attempts by the four Ikoku mechanics and a brother of the late Chima Ikwunado, all of whom were unjustly detained by the Eagle Crack Unit of the Rivers State Police Command to recover all their personal properties seized at the point of their arrest and illegal detention earlier today proved futile.

The four surviving Ikoku traders had at the point of their release alleged that the Police was still holding unto nine phones, and an aggregate sum of N128, 400.00 cash, their working tools and wallets, identification cards, ATM cards and other personal effects belonging to them.

However, when representatives of the Rivers State civil society organisations (RIVCSO) in Port Harcourt led the Ikoku 4 to the State Criminal Investigation Department SCID today in an attempt to recover their belongings, having been declared innocent by the state magistrate court of the charges labelled against them by the police, the Police presented only four phones and declared the other items missing.

Only three of the surviving mechanics were on ground to identify the items. Holygist gathered that Ifeanyi Onyekwere was represented by his brother as he is still on intense medication as a result of the multiple injuries he sustained while in detention. The Late Chima Ikwunado was also represented by his brother, Tony Ikwunado.

Of the nine phones seized at the point of arrest, three belonged to the now bedridden Ifeanyi Onyekwere, Victor Ogbonna had one. Ifeanyi Osuji had one. Osaze Friday two phones. The Late Chima had two phones.

At the SCID today, the Holygist was reliably informed that Ifeanyi Onyekwere recovered just one phone out of his three phones. Ifeanyi Osuji saw his phone. Osaze Friday got his complete phones. Victor Ogbonna did not see any of his phone or his personal items. The late Chima’s brother was able to recover only one phone.

Meanwhile, all N128,400.00 was declared missing by the police. Of the declared sum, N95,750.00 belonged to the late Chima Ikwunado, Ifeanyi Osuji laid claim to N27,400.00 while N5,250.00 belonged to Ifeanyi Onyekwere.
