With America owing money as we do, why are they light years ahead of us in development and governance!!!

Because of people like you who don't understand the fundamentals.

You think the Government is dumb and doesn't have anything to gain when they declared the border be closed?

Government policies are beyond what you read on Nairaland.
Infact, it's a shame that a forum as big as Nairaland doesn't promote intelligent discussions, advantages and disadvantages of various policies.
Rather, it promotes mediocre, ignoramus and "first to comment" people.
No dedicated threads for experts in certain fields, no philosophy, no critical thinking.
I think twitter is better than here

Oga efiko, shut the fucck up. Audio professor. What has been your own contribution to Nairaland? To slap you dey hungry me.

My guy, see as them just dey attack you from left right and center, but you said the truth. Government policies are indeed beyond what we read here. People just come and talk, and when done, wait for the next thread.

Before border closure and now, the difference is in just a little or lower N1 Billion.

Nothing has changed. From August 2019 till now, 5 months, they've made an extra N5 Billion based on what customs were previously remitting. That'll just N60 Billion extra in a year.

It is based on this that the OP is asking or someone is asking for him that why is the government still borrowing?

Na wa oo. Indeed Government policies are indeed beyond what we read here.

We both know the answer to that question... No need for jibes and beating about the bush.

We can't excuse leadership incompetence forever... Using the minor inadequacies of older countries to mask or excuse our failures won't take us a step closer to progress.

Six billion may seem like a lot, but at the end of the day, our budget is about 11 trillion, when it should be something like 100 trillion if not more.

Nigeria's main source of income is oil Since 2014, oil has been selling at least 50-90 dollars per barell below the price we need it to make a profit. And as a result, we have had to take loans to keep the heads above water. And the loan taking won't stop until we have oil at $140 per barrel and above (which is where we need it to be).

And the loans past and present have to be paid. Note that Bubu is not only paying for loans he took , he is also paying back loans taken before he came into office.....

So a large chunk of that 6billion goes into paying loans.

When I tell people I don't vote for APC or PDP...they laff at me, and even accuse me of lying. Well, the solution to Nigeria's financial problem is to become an industrial nation which exports industrial products. And APC has no policy in that regard. Na to share oil money they do. Sadly PDP is like them in that regard.

Better submission.

What's your point Mr...He's talking about the money that is declared by customs being audio rather than government policy. Did you even read his comments?

Shouldn't blame Mr. Seun.... He is all about profits!!! If the major visitors to his forum are bereft of needed mental space for such topics and discussions, it would be financially suicidal to major on them.

Create such threads, push them to FP, and see how few the pages will run with viewers with even fewer contributors... This is the exact opposite of threads on celebrities, IPOB, etc...
Yeah. This shows that many Nigerians don't value informative thread yet they blame the government

WE HAVE MONEY ON PAPER BUT NOT EVIDENTLY IN THE LIFE OF PEOPLE...

And what are those Monies used for in the economy today..
What role/ impact are these heavy financial figures playing in the economy??
They just raked the money, and keep it there, without using it to create opportunities back into the economy.

THERE IS WITHDRAWAL OF MONEY FROM THE ECONOMY AND NO INJECTION BACK INTO THE ECONOMY
THE ECONOMY REMAINS STATIC, STAGNANT AND STALE. NO IMPROVEMENT IN THE STANDARD OF LIVES OF THE CITIZENS.

Nigerian leaders are bunch of hypocrites, the customs support this closure because of what they gain between 2am and 4am daily. Seme border is smuggle in goods from 2am to 4am daily, they pay the Custom officers huge bribe, Money that's going into their personal pocket.

My main problem is, anytime they talk about the reason for border closure, they tend to leave out the reason they close border on their own citizens from 6pm to 6am daily. The immigration officers now demand bribe to allow a Nigerian Citizen with every legal rights and travel documents, cross into his own Country... A failed state indeed.

I don't think the average citizen cares one bit about these figures bandied about. Even pre teens can see they just donot add up to what us clearly an economy on the rocks.

If everything is up at least something must be going down. That is the natural law of everything from logic to matter to thermodynamics to economics. If earnings are up and inflation is up, borrowings are up, subsidies are up and taxes are up then I can only deduce that something fishy is definitely going down.
