The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) is no 1 trending topic on social media and is because of the comment made by the commission’s acting chairman, Ibrahim Magu at the Nigerian Defence Academy (NDA) during the passion out parade of 281 cadets of EFCC detective inspector course.

Magu during his speech said “Corruption is the biggest strategy to human kind. Your excellency, corruption is worse than all the diseases now running about.

“And I strongly believe, Your Excellency, that even the coronavirus is caused by corruption.”

A statement the commission has since denied even though there was a video prove of the statement.



The anti-graft agency took to its official Twitter handle to alleged that the report is false and misleading. The agency claimed that Magu said;

“Tackling corruption is a clarion call, given that corruption is a huge burden to the nation. It is worse than Cancer, Ebola Virus, Coronavirus and all other deadly diseases put together.”
