Non indigenes in Umuebule II, Etche local government are losing their homes and this has been going on for a month. The indigenes have been destroying houses and properties belonging to non- indigenes with the backing of a “court order”. People who legitimately bought lands and have lived in Umuebule II for up to 10 years have lost everything they ever labored for and have been rendered homeless and hopeless. Other people are being asked to rebuy their lands at exorbitant prices.
The problem is believed to have started with a disagreement between Okrika LGA and Etche LGA. It is alleged that many years ago the Etche people gave lands to the Okrika community as a reward for helping them (Etche) fight a war. The straw that broke the camel’s back and led to the current crises was the request by the Okrika community for Shell (SPDC) recognizes them as a separate community in Etche and the attempt by the Okrika people to crown a king in Umuebule. This action got the Etche people angry and the Etche people resolved to take back the lands they gave to the Okrika people. In the bid to take back their lands, The Etche people are now destroying houses belonging to non-indigenes who legitimately bought these lands from the Okrika people. Even people who bought lands legitimately from the late King Njoku are also in fear of losing their lands and houses.
The Etche indigenes are using men of the Special Anti-robbery Squad (SARS) to intimidate people. People are not allowed to take pictures or videos. Anyone caught doing so risks been arrested by the SARS officials.

People in Umuebulle II should start talking about this please. The way the community is going about this is not fair. I dont know what court order prohibits people from taking pictures and videos in a situation like this. It looks so strange that a court order would support the destruction of peoples properties this way. I see this as injustice and an unjust means devised by some people to make and resell lands. If the court has ruled that so called lands in contention belongs to the Etche community does it mean peoples house on the lands should be destroyed?

Since they have a court order, they have a right to destroy the properties.

Biafra can solve all of Biafra's problem... nobody ever said Biafra would solve all of Nigeria's problem

Keep the argument simple please

Don't equate what is going on in the east under Nigeria's setting with what will go on in the east under a Biafra setting
