Gov. Umahi Sets To Begin 198KM Ring Road Project In Ebonyi State

Governor David Nweze Umahi of Ebonyi State Governor, yesterday inspected the ring road project with a view of mastering its current status before commencement.

Igbere TV reports that Umahi during the inspection described the project as landmark because of its strategic importance, adding that upon completion, it will open the suburbs for greater economic development and linkages of Ebonyi.

The Governor assured that the project will be completed within the shortest possible time, further added that he will live no stone unturned on his onerous task of developing the state to become global destination of investors.

Since Governor Umahi embarked on the process of constructing the ring road project, reactions have continued to trail it, with many calling on the governor to hasten its completion, because of its all encompassing benefits.

Also, the development it will attract has continued to engage the attention of development pundits who said it will step down development to the grassroots thereby decongesting the already crowded urban areas.

Others are also commending Governor Umahi for his people centred approach to governance especially in the ring road.

The inspection tour took off from Ohaukwu to Ezza North, Ezza South, Izzi, Ikwo and climaxed at Izzi council area of the state but the Governor noted that the remaining council areas will be inspected in a later date.

He equally showed excitement that the project will be done on concrete just like other road projects in Ebonyi, noting that it is the best technology in road construction which guarantees over 50 years lifespan.

198km? Umahi don hammer o!!

The 198km was actually divided into bits so it could go round for contractors and the longest is 32.45km...

So imagine ''Oga thank you" from about 10 different companies!!!

Mind you, the project is being sponsored by AFDB not state government money.

That's a good one from Umahi, but he shouldn't just concentrate on the Abakaliki bloc..Afikpo bloc needs the ring roads and linkages as much as the Abakaliki block to connect more to Abia and Cross River states.

I'm even proposing construction of a bridge across Ndibe beach Afikpo to connect to the other part of Cross River, with this the time frame from Afikpo to Calabar will be less than the current 2hrs from Abaomege...Infact it could just be almost an HR and maybe some few minutes..This will also help those traveling from Enugu, Anambra, west and north to cut short the travel time to Calabar

Thing is this...most projects are direct labour and are of good quality, he uses his own contractors to do the work and give a high quality..he's a civil engineer himself..so instead of stealing the money without doing anything, he rather build them and get his money still..win win situation both for him and Ebonyi people

No wonder. That man is doing good for hinself and his people. If this continues, the bad mark that has scarred Ebonyi for a long time would be a thing of the past

If this man completes this project within the life span of his tenure, then other South Eastern governors should be stoned in public.

Easiest way to loot and steal is always through road construction and construction of this and that.

Well by the time he leaves, the debt burden he will leave for the state will be better he didn't become governor at all.

Yeah for sure... present components of Ebonyi were neglected in their former states, and I'm happy the governor is changing things and trying to build the infrastructures that should have already been in Ebonyi..That's why I laugh off when people criticize his projects like anyone built them before..if he can build the airport, stadium and other capital projects then it will attract more investors to the state

There is no debt anywhere...check the debt profile of Ebonyi and you will see that... Ebonyi is among the 10 least indebted states in Nigeria..

So that shouldn't be your headache

If we don’t stop taunting and bullying each other, in igbo land, we may be breeding more jeo igbokwe's

. All wise people have always known that contributions from different sources are necessary for progress . I encourage anyone who has great ideas to contribute them to progress of NDI IGBO AND ALA IGBO...if you are igbo then I pity you and your likes that go around insulting and bullying other Igbo clans and groups. Most of you don't know the damage you're causing to Igbo cohesion.

Today, we have igbo groups denying their roots and you pathetic fellows are yet to see we are loosing our igwe which is supposed to be our ike.
Keep taunting and bullying each other thinking you're preserving your state, it might be too late to discover that the ppl that wants to destroy igboland are using your foolies to their advantage.GBO...
