It has nothing to do with security,it's just an excuse.Blacklisting Nigeria is part of Trump's 2020 election campaign, majority of his base are racist they don't like foreigners
In fact lot of Americans defended Nigeria calling the ban a total nonsense because Nigerian has never committed terrorism or American soil and they are the most educated immigrants in America thereby contributing to the GPD
I am glad we are beginning to get the picture. It's sad that some of our brothers from the east have held on to the belief that Trump is pro biafra just cos Nnamdi Kanu sold that utterly dumb idea to them. Trump is a racist president and he doesn't care about your bloody agitation for biafra. Let's wake up from our slumber and forget about Mr. Trumps America. Stop worshiping that guy folks. He's just pro America and nothing more. He doesn't care about Biafra not to even talk about Nigeria or Africa.

You shldnt plead with trump bcuz that guy is always resolute when he decides. I guess he is just not impressed with our leadership, and the economy, when so many of our politicians kept huge amount of money in banks over there.
He has intelligence report on our leaders .

America is smarter than that. These Islamists want to send boko haramites into America. U can't fool Americans. Trump should place a stricter ban on Nigerians until these jokers leave office.

"According to Aregbesola , Nigeria should be commended rather than sanctioned owing to relationship with America." The statement goes to show the different mindsets of the leaders and government of the two countries...US and Nigeria. The US does not give a damn about your relationship when it comes to issues that threaten its security and national interest. Instead of appealing to the US over the visa ban, Nigeria should concentrate on getting its shattered and shambled house in order. No country that really cares about its security and national interest would take Nigeria seriously judging by the state of insecurity in the country and the lackadaisical attitude of the government. It goes without saying, that you have to secure your own country first before you help another to secure his. Nigeria is not only a pariah state, but it's also a laughing stock amongst the comity of nations.

Leme ask u this simple question.
If you were given the opportunity and authority to handle nigeria for 10years.
Do you think u will be able to do much in terms of development? Its not as easy as we all think.
It took years for nigeria to get this bad nd i mean over 40-50years.
Fixing or developing will require more time.

We should sit out ass down nd develop our own country not seeking mercy from other develop country!!

Make Nigeria Great.

Then you can stand toe-to-toe with other countries that have made themselves great and have visa-free visits to the US (like Japan, South Korea, Taiwan, Chile, among many).

True. But if the right people were in charge for 10 years, the progress towards greatness (while not complete) would be far greater than anything we're seeing nowadays. I'm not saying OBJ or GEJ were saints, but damn... the country was moving.

Nigeria had made such great progress from 1999-2015 on so many fronts: diplomatic, socially, economically (we were poised to be in the top 20 economies in 2020 based on our numbers. However, since PMB there's been an unmistakable regression on all fronts.

LosC:
The Nigerian Government on Thursday urged the United States of America to consider the long standing relationship between the two countries and reverse its visa restrictions on the country.

Ministry of Interior Interior, Ogbeni Rauf Aregbesola, made the call on Thursday, when the American Ambassador to Nigeria, Mary Leonard, and her team paid him a visit in Abuja.

Aregebsola said Nigeria had complied with most of the issues of concern raised by America, adding that Nigeria is not a pariah nation.

The minister said the cooperation with the U.S. would solve Immigration and Consular issues in control of persons seeking to enter both countries through issuance of visa, passport and other travel documents.

According to Aregbesola , Nigeria should be commended rather than sanctioned owing to relationship with America.

He further appealed to the U.S. to review its Visa Validity to Nigerians from two years limit to at least five years

He also urged U.S. to establish a third office in Nigeria in reciprocity with the country which has establishments in Atlanta, New York and Washington D.C.

Aregebsola emphasised the need for both countries to strengthen the Security Governance Initiative between his Ministry and American Embassy through proper enlightenment and awareness creation.

The minister added that the relationship between both nations must be mutually beneficial.

He gave assurance that the President Muhammadu Buhari Administration was not only committed to ensuring internal security and citizenship integrity of Nigerians and foreigners alike, but also to the fight against terrorism and transnational crimes and criminalities.

‘’We are positive that visa restriction is a temporary one, it will soon be put behind us.

“President Muhammadu Buhari would commission the Nigeria Immigration Data Technology Centre before the end of the year 2020, as part of the Federal Government’s commitment to ensuring that her data is linked with security agencies globally.”

Earlier, the envoy said her team was in the Ministry to share ideas on possible ways of addressing Information sharing gap between the two nation.

Leonard added that America had a very broad collaboration with Nigeria, which covers immigration, safety issues and security.

The envoy gave assurance of her country’s determination to continue to collaborate with Nigeria, so as to further strengthen their relationship.
