The Nigerian army has announced that it lost a soldier in Friday’s open gunshot battle with Boko Haram, after a troops of 232 Battalion of 23 Armoured Brigade intercepted the criminal attack by the terrorist group in Garkida, Gombi Local Government Area of Adamawa.

In a statement released by the Assistant Director, Army Public Relations for 23 Brigade Maj. Haruna Sani, the Nigerian army stated that it successfully disrupted the plans of the group who infiltrated the peaceful town with about 7 trucks filled with Guns and a number of motorcycles.

The military said it killed many of the Boko Haram terrorists, while those that escaped left with gunshot wounds which was evident in the trails of blood along their withdrawal route.

The statement reads in part; “Gallant troops of 232 Battalion of 23 Armoured Brigade under Operation LAFIYA DOLE deployed in Garkida, Gombi LGA of Adamawa State, had thwarted a planned criminal attack on the peaceful town on 21 February 2020 by some criminal Boko Haram Terrorists.

"The terrorists besieged the town in about 7 Gun Trucks and a number of motorcycles, setting some buildings ablaze and causing unrest within the community.

After dem don capture dis same boko haram member 4 killing a soldier 2day...na still dem go rehabilitate am,carry join d society again...what if na 1 of d rehabilitated member b dis...wey go back.

I have immense respect to these military men who still have the courage to fight the Boko Haram knowing that any of the captured terrorists could still be rehabilitated and set free even after causing so much carnage.

God rest the souls of the brave, patriotic but fallen soldiers.
