Illiteracy, Religious intolerance and misguided, misconstrued idea of Religious expansionism forms the backbone of the North’s setback, backwardness, underdevelopment, excruciating poverty and the sad reality of our economic state in the midst of enormous endowment and resources God Almighty has given this country which is equally enjoyed by the North as other parts of the nation that have become prosperous than us.

In the light of Boko Haram attack on Garkida in Gombi Local Government of Adamawa State, the Rev (Dr) Innocent Solomon, General Overseer, The Crown of Life Bible Church, House Of David, Jalingo and Northeast Zonal Vice Chairman of the Christian Association of Nigeria (CAN), said it is worrisome that in the 21st century we still have highly misguided, misinformed and religiously brain – washed specie of faithfuls on this planet earth with pseudo mindset that have refused to see reason for our common human progress and development but instead, chose to celebrate hate against others and the wanton destruction of lives and property with such unsavoury taste.

Nigeria has a long way to go when a chunk of its population are still living in the mediaeval age, era of darkness and still claim authority or been empowered by a belief system or doctrine .

The destruction meted on Garkida town is a regrettable manifestation of the intolerable level we have used religion to create for ourselves in the North which houses 87% of the poorest population in Nigeria.

The World Bank has estimated that 87% of all the poor people in Nigeria are in the north. In a report titled, ‘Advancing social protection in a dynamic Nigeria’, the Bretton Wood institution said the south-south zone recorded the most significant drop in poverty between 2011 and 2016.
