They will keep perpetuating falsehoods. The next bunch to arrest are the ones that when you beat them at intellectual discussions they begin name calling like calling one a scam

What right does the EFCC have to arrest him when it wasn’t a financial crime he committed. He better sue them for harassment and a motion declaring his arrest illegal.

Apeshy101:
The Economic and financial crime commission (EFCC) has announced via the commission’s verified Twitter Account that it has arrested a blogger identified Mr Dikeocha Chukwuebuka who published a fake tweet purported to be the commission’s cell in Portharcourt.
www.nairaland.com/attachments/11118615_1_jpeg83b5009e040969ee7b60362ad7426573

The Port Harcourt Zonal Head of the Commission, Mr Usman Imam who announced the arrest while briefing newsmen in Port Harcourt today, February 27, 2020 said the suspect was picked up at about 4pm on Wednesday, February 26, 2020 .

Describing the report as most embarrassing he said “I want to assure the suspect and indeed the media, that the Commission will follow through this investigation and ensure that justice is served in accordance with the law,”

He also urged social media influence’s to be weary of fake news.

Recall that EFCC had on February 12, 2020 vowed to apprehend the promoter of a report in the social media, which falsely claimed that the Commission’s holding facility is overcrowded, while detainees are allegedly subjected to mistreatment.

In the photo that went viral on social media, Mr Dikeocha Chukwuebuka with Twitter handle @TheRealDayne claimed that the photo was EFCC’s detention center and that suspects were treated with contempt

What I am finding so interesting is the fact that said tweet is acknowledged to belong to another agency. So the basic fact of something not looking quite all right with the way the security apparatus treats Nigerian citizens remains glaringly unanswered.
Exactly. If ISWAP attack a community, and I report that Boko Haram attacked a community, will I be arrested for fake news? Or will the terrorists, regardless of their affiliation be arrested and brought to justice?

Fine! Blogger sharing fake news arrested, all good!
But question still remains unchanged, where exactly is that place? A place were able bodied men are held captive that is not a prison and by the looks, certainly not a police cell or is that some kinda kidnapper den

scoundrel:
The internet is anonymous, abi? Trolls should continue deceiving themselves. Those who believe hacking into the pentagon is as easy as mashing buttons very fast on keyboards will believe they are untraceable online. Get on a selected authority’s wrong side and they’ll flush you out of your village. This is just a local example. If it was the CIA he wronged based on Yahoo Yahoo they’ll capture and extradite him in the cover of night, even his immediate family will have no idea what happened.

That picture is sad. See humans crammed like sardines. My God, the African is an animal.

He was the one that contacted them so stop fooling yourself . He was never anonymous on Twitter

The bottom line is simple, do not peddle fake news,it undermines things and it can be deadly.

He may be a hungry blogger no doubt. But:

Has it been proven by GPS check that that isn’t an EFCC premise?
What if on account of the viral photo the Commission changed its way of “doing things” to save face?
What else could justify or does justify the situation painted in the picture?

These questions and much more beg for answers. Let the court decide and hope EFCC does not witch-hunt the guy.

Why didn’t he turn himself in then? The report says he was apprehended in a bank. What will he gain from contacting them and getting himself arrested?

But if the detention centre belongs to another agency as posited .. Measures should be taken to address the degrading, barbaric and wicked action of the concerned agency.

Oppression!!!

The tweet is not fake until EFCC disproves it by showing us their facilities in Port Harcourt and South South as a whole

Why didn't they tell us which other agency the detention center belongs to? EFCC be bold come out clean.

Nigerians are just too gullible, imagine an entire agency of government with guns, manpower and connection arrests a poor nobody what do you expect he will say? Or do? Of cos he will be reading their script.

Efcc's duty is financial crimes and advance fee fraud not fake news read the Act that established EFCC it didn't give them such powers to arrest just anybody especially for fake news.

abegi,park....
that basstard should face firing squard....

why waste money on the morafvcker for trials....??

daddytime:
How is the guy's crime if indeed true even related to economic or financial crimes?

So, the EFCC will play both judge and jury in her own case.

It is well.
A lot of people will not understand you. Its just like Road Safety impounding your car for "lying" against them. grin
This guy might just have succeeded in catching efcc with his bait. Next he will sue them for illegal detention and acting outside the confines of their duties.
