The leadership of Enugu State United Patriots has condemned the attitude of the Enugu State Independence Electoral Commission (ENSIEC) on the Purported local government election held yesterday being 29th February 2020, in the state. The leadership of the party chastised the manner the local government election was conducted and said it question the integrity of the leadership of the ENSIEC, The party reported that in Awgu, "There is nothing like election, and in most places no presiding officer in sight talk of electoral materials and question any result that may come from the area.

The united Patriots led in the state by Hon. Michael Ndubuisi said the so called election is a sham. While speaking to Newsmen in the state, the Awgu local government Chairmanship Candidate, Hon. (Mrs.) Onuora Ugochukwu stated that there was no election in Awgu local government and wonder where they will from manufacture result they will declare. In his own, one of the party's counselorship candidate Hon Orji Chinonso collaborated Mrs. Onuora and noted that in his Enugu road polling unit in Awgu Ward 1, no elected was conducted and queried why Enugu Independence Electoral Commission cannot conduct an acceptable election considering the global campaign against election rigging, at a time Nigeria electoral umpire is struggling to redeem it image before the international community.

Also speaking, another counselorship candidate in the party (UP), Hon Chidi in Ezuwani Ward, Nsukka stated that ENSIEC Officials‬ refused to allow the agents of the (UP) to come near the polling unit talk of letting them be part of the monitoring of what was going on in the polling unit. The party alleged that the presiding officers in the areas which include Mrs Amaka Eze posted to Enugu road primary school polling units, Mr Obasi Dennis, Obodo Ugwu affam and Ibekwe Bonaventure Obodo ibite colluding with some PDP members in the area to cart away the ballot boxes and other electoral material to unknown place to thump print. According to the party, the election is a disappointment and a total failure on the side of the state electoral body.
