A publication made available by the Nigerian Center For Disease Control via its [url=https://www.ncdc.gov.ng/diseases/sitreps/?cat=14&name=An%20update%20of%20COVID-19%20outbreak%20in%20Nigeria] website [/url] confirms that 30 persons who had direct contact with the effected Italian national has been identified and quarantined.

The Publication dated 29th February which was obtained by news9naija, 2020 has shows that while 1 has been confirmed to have tested positive to the virus, 24 cases of close contact has been identified in Ogun and 6 cases of close contact in Lagos State respectively.

Below are major response activity as contained in the publication.

HIGHLIGHTS
This is a redacted version of the first national situation report, following the confirmation of the first
confirmed case of coronavirus disease (COVID-19) in Nigeria. This report will be produced on a daily
basis as Nigeria responds to the outbreak.
• One case of COVID-19 was confirmed in Nigeria on 27th February 2020
• The Honourable Minister of Health announced this at a press briefing at 9.30am on 28th February
2020
• A multi-sectoral national emergency operations centre (EOC) is activated at level 3, which is the
highest level of response in the country for public health emergencies. This is led by NCDC
• The confirmed case is currently managed at a designated treatment facility for COVID-19 at the
Infectious Disease Hospital (IDH), Yaba, Lagos
• NCDC deployed two Rapid Response Teams to Lagos and Ogun States respectively on 28th
February
• Lagos and Ogun State EOCs are leading contact tracing and other response activities in
respective states
• Global situation: As at 29th February 2020, a total of 85,403 confirmed cases reported (95.5%
cases in China); 2,924 deaths; 49 countries affected; three countries affected in Africa: Egypt,
Algeria and Nigeria
EPIDEMIOLOGICAL SUMMARY
• On 27th February, a 44-year old Italian citizen was diagnosed of COVID-19 in Lagos State. The
case is the first to be reported in Nigeria since the first confirmed case was reported from China
in January 2020. The case arrived the Murtala Muhammed International Airport, Lagos at 10pm
on 24th February 2020 aboard Turkish airline from Milan, Italy. He traveled on to his company
site in Ogun state on 25th February. On 26th February, he presented at the staff clinic in Ogun
and there was high index of suspicion by the managing physician. He was referred to IDH Lagos
and COVID-19 was confirmed on 27th February.

THERE IS NO DISEASE WITHOUT CURE EXCEPT DEATH. SO SAYS PROPHET MUHAMMAD. I BELIEVE THE CURE WOULD BE DISCOVERED SOONEST.

I pray it doesn't spread in Nigeria and may we be resistant to it as people has been claiming.......we can't handle the spread of the virus......nor are we well equipped.
