The Teachers Speak: Impact of Inoyo Toro Foundation 12 Years On

NOAH CYRIL NOAH

Another beneficiary of the Inoyo Toro Foundation award is Mr. Noah Cyril Noah, a Biology teacher at the Community Secondary Primary School, Ikot Akpabio in Etinan Local Government Area of Akwa Ibom state. He is a 2014 awardee and beneficiary of the 2016 grand mentor award.

Mr. Noah said that he received a text message inviting him to come for a screening test and he ended up winning the award.

Noting that he collected the cheque in utter disbelief that a foundation could appreciate teachers with such amount, until he cashed the money from the bank. Thus he reasoned that if a teacher can be remembered, then there is hope in the teaching profession and it encouraged him to put more effort, read more and impact on his students.

Mr. Noah who revealed that the award has impacted much on Akwa Ibom education sector, expressing surprise that a teacher could be remembered and given a place of pride in the country, said the money which was "very reasonable" was used to empower himself by buying text books to aid his teaching ability; assist some indigent students to get books and materials that aided their studies; and bought some teaching aids for the school.

He commended the Inoyo Toro Foundation for remembering teachers who have been long neglected and not only politicians, and also for the fairness in the selection process that exposed them to the world. Concluding, he said: "I can really say boldly, Inoyo Toro foundation thank you for remembering people like us, impacting my life, and helping me to be able to impact on the life of others".
