After 30 year old ex Nigerian Striker, was signed to Manchester United Odion Ighalo, many mixed feelings and reactions trailed the move, some were concerned about his age, while some were concerned about the league ( Chinese league) he is coming from.
Many fans and ex players of Manchester United frowned when Ighalo was signed but then, grace brought him into the club he loves and supports since he was a kid, his childhood dream club, he worked his backside off to get fit and has now scored 3 goals already in just 2 starts.
He moved quickly, unexpectedly, impressively and surprisingly, and as expected he is already proving the naysayers wrong and automatically garnering more fans than ever. But nonetheless Ighalo has gotten an overdose kind of love from Nigerians, club favouritism apart, everybody just wants him to do well. After his second goal, a Nigerian Flag was spotted in crowd, a gesture that has stirred so many emotion from his fans especially Nigerians.
People have taken to their social media to react:

I'm glad this time we all have to celebrate him as a Nigerian. He has made the entire Nation proud without sentiments.

Let's assume he is from the east, he would be "Igbo Amaka" and then they would opt for a red and green flag instead

Must everything be related to everything going on in the country? Can't you just applaud a good gesture and move on.

I'm just pleased how the coaching staff and players and fans go ecstatic when Ighalo scores. Solskjear is just genuinely happy for Odion — you can tell from his comments about him.

Nigerians sef mah, I wonder where all the love is coming from considering all the hate and threats he received while playing for the Super Eagles. Now, you see all screaming for them to get the ball to Ighalo or cursing Ole when he doesn't start him.

Has your tribal and divisive comments solved an atom of our problems? Yet you still take out time to comment.

So appreciate good gestures. At least, Ighalo is putting us on the map.
