However, the disclosure by Lagos state
commissioner has alarmed some Nigerians who
urged the federal government to prevent
foreigners from entering the country in order to
reduce the risk of foreigners bringing coronavirus
in the country.
Meanwhile, the federal government has finally revealed why it refused to disclose the identity of the Italian who brought coronavirus into Nigeria. According to the FG, this is against medical ethics to
do so without his consent. This was disclosed by Osagie Ehanire, the minister
of health, Daily Trust reports. He said his case was
different from that of Patrick Sawyerr who brought
Ebola to Nigeria. He argued that Sawyerr was known because he
died. In another report, as Nigerians make efforts to stay
hygienic over the coronavirus outbreak, a Nigerian military hospital in the nation's capital, Abuja is giving out free hand-sanitizers to residents.
The National Defence College clinic in the Federal
Capital Territory, Abuja has been handing out the sanitizers to people for free. This is as many stores in the city hiked the prices of
hand sanitizers and face masks in the last few days. The case is an Italian citizen visiting from Milan, Italy
visiting a factory in Ogun state via the Murtala
Muhammed International Airport. He has since been quarantined, while health
authorities in the country have assured Nigerians
that they are on top of the situation. Still on health, Chief Olusegun Obasanjo, a former president of Nigeria, has said that he was forced to adjust events lined up to mark his 83rd birthday
due to the outbreak of coronavirus in the country. SaharaReporters reports that he made the
comments on Thursday, March 5, in Abeokuta, the
capital of Ogun state, while addressing well-
wishers.
Legit.ng gathered that the former president said,
“When we were thinking of this celebration, two
programmes came to mind.
