The engine running, is normal, and the main reasons why the engine kicks in at every start-up is to warm it up, helping to reduced emissions, before the system switches efficiently to electric mode.

Not correct, that noise occurs when the engine is missfiring. Fix the mixfire, and the noise stops

that's not a normal sound. that car have issue.

Do you have a grinding pepper working in the background?


The way you typed and ooze confidence of a wrong inference gan.

That hybrid has issues. And they dont sound that way on start-up.

You should have a check engine and VSC MIL lights on.

Scan the vehicle.

Go to live data, and select miss fire counter. You should find the culprit.
