Tottenham were eliminated from the Champions League by RB Leipzig on yesterday night.

Jose Mourinho’s side travelled to Germany looking to reverse a 1-0 defeat after the first leg.

But couldn’t make it.

Marcel Sabitzer’s shot which beat Huge Lloris who could only get a weak hand on the ball before it rolled into the net sees Leipzig took the lead within the first 10 minutes .

Just 11 minutes later, it was 2-0 and questions were asked of the Spurs goalkeeper again, when he was beaten at his near post by Sabitzer’s header.

The visitors offered very little in response and their fate was sealed in the 87th minute when Emil Forsberg scored a third.

With that, Tottenham were eliminated from the Champions League, losing on 4-0 aggregate. It could be quite a while before they return to European competition too.

This result will no doubt hurt the whole team, but also Mourinho himself.



The Portuguese coach is now on the poorest run of his entire coaching career – without a win in six straight matches; losing four and drawing two .



what a shock to see search a thing happen to Jose Mourinho since this has never happened in his previous 929 matches.

So, is this a problem with Spurs, or their coach himself?

It’s probably a bit of both, to be honest.

Yes, Mourinho can complain about having a light squad and all the injury problems he has, but the way he set his side up on Tuesday was also a factor in the defeat.

Tottenham were outclassed in every area by a team very few had tipped to even reach the Champions League knockout stages.


Their latest defeat piles the pressure on for Sunday’s clash with Manchester United, too.
