Covenant University & Ota Town Collaborate To Hold Technology Summit & Expo by kukute: 6:54pm On Mar 16, 2020
CU-Ota Tech Expo 1.0 team has announced Friday 27th – Saturday 28th March 2020 as the date for the tech summit, conference, and exhibition. Unveiling the conference yesterday, Bayo Agboola the Co-Chair of the LOC, revealed that the Tech Summit is a first of its kind “Gown and Town” partnership between Covenant University and the Ota community where the institution is located represented by the Olota-FECODEIN.
The Olota-FECODEIN is an initiative of the Olota of Ota, HRM (Prof) Adeymi Obalanlege, for the economic empowerment of youths of the town. He informed that the industrial town of Ota has been known for many exploits and firsts in the education sector and the business sector. It’s now time for these to be iterated to transforming Ota to a hub for tech and innovation. “It is our desire to inform, prepare, equip and empower young people for this and the future to come that has led to the establishment of the CU-Ota Tech Expo 1.0.”

The theme for the event is[b] “The 4th Industrial Revolution: Future for Businesses, the Work Place and Communities”[/b] and it is scheduled to hold 9 a.m. [/b]every day at the [b]African Leadership Development Center, Covenant University, Ota, Ogun State, from Friday 27th – Saturday 28th March 2020. The CU-Ota Tech Expo 1.0 is designed to profile emerging transformational technologies and their expected impact on people’s lives, their work, the business they do and the community they live in. Speakers at the event will highlight what individuals and companies need to do to remain relevant in the face of fast-paced shifts driven by technology. Over 1000 participants from both gown and town will converge at Covenant University for this inaugural event. Student representatives from about 10 higher institutions in the Lagos and Ogun axis are also expected at the event.

Bayo Agboola revealed that it’s not going to be all talk. Subject-matter experts will also handle practical training workshops every day covering topics like Ai, VR, AR, Drone-tech, 3D printing, BIM 360, Web Authoring and more. There is also a Hackathon/Business Pitch session on 4.0 technologies with a handsome cash prize for higher institution students and an essay competition on the Summit Theme with a cash reward for secondary schools.
