Promotes Quality and Inspiring Teaching from the Global Perspective.


Occasioned by the desirable fruits of Franco- AE-FUNAI educational agreement signed in 2017, designed to offer placement to the University staff to pursue masters and doctoral degree programmes in top universities in France, Centre for Enhancement of Teaching and Learning(CETeL) in collaboration with French Centre, Alex Ekwueme Federal University Ndufu-Alike, Ebonyi State, recently held a one-day Teachers’ Talk Forum at the University NEEDS Assessment Building, towards showcasing the success of the educational agreement.

Four staff beneficiaries namely; Engr Stanley Obinikpa, Engr Uchenna Nwokenkwo, Mrs Ginika Udeh and Barr. Victoria Ogbusu shared their academic experiences with members of staff across faculties in AE-FUNAI in line with the essence of the forum which was to promote good and inspiring teaching from the global perspective, to enhance students learning experiences in AE-FUNAI.



The Forum was declared open by the Vice-Chancellor, Professor Chinedum Nwajiuba, who was ably represented by Dr. Mrs. Chinyere Augusta Nwajiuba, Ag. Director,Centre for Enhancement of Teaching and Learning (CETeL). The vice-Chancellor emphasized that the Forum was in keeping with the mandate of embracing the latest advances in pedagogy across the globe and creating positive transformative learning experience for students in the context of Higher Education. Dr Mrs Nwajiuba welcomed the Guest Speaker, Professor Cresantus Biamba, a Professor in Education at the University of Galve, Sweden and a Visiting Professor in AE-FUNAI Faculty of Education.

While making his presentation, Prof. Biamba shared his experiences on Promoting Culturally and Linguistically Diverse Students through Internationalization. He explored the relevance of internationalization to the curricula and perception of its influence on teaching and learning within disciplines. In the light of the discussions, lecturers in AE-FUNAI were urged to deploy variety of lecture, assessment and feedback methods. Emphasis was laid on the fact that lectures should be highly interactive and examination questions made more practical rather than theoretical to encourage critical thinking and analysis by students. The use of ICT in teaching and learning and proper timetabling of lectures were encouraged while use of over 3 to 5 years recycled lecture notes without update with recent research findings and information to teach students was discouraged.

Professor Nnenna Nwosu-Nworuh,Director, French Centre and Co- host, in her remarks, commended the AE-FUNAI academic staff who completed their studies and returned to give back to the University. She applauded the Vice-Chancellor for supporting the programme which currently has over 41 staff of the University in top universities in France for various postgraduate programmes. She further advised that Dean, Students’ Affairs should ensure that CETeL and Lecturers are present at students’ orientation on a theme focused on students learning.

Present at the forum were Prof Chukwunonso Ejike,Director, Academic planning unit, Prof Smart Otu, Dean, Faculty of Law, Dr Lawrence Ogugua, Director, Quality Assurance and Data Base Management (the raportuer of the event), Prof Rosemary Igbo, Dean, Faculty of Education, Prof Ezeah, Director, Internationalization and other teaching staff from all the faculties in AE-FUNAI.

In her vote of thanks, Dr. Mrs. Chinyere Nwajiuba highly commended the Vice-Chancellor, Prof Chinedum Uzoma Nwajiuba for the Franco – AE-FUNAI vision and accomplishments. She also appreciated Professor Nnenna Nwosu-Nworah for facilitating the processes as well as ensuring the comfort of the University staff in France. The Ag. Director thanked her CETeL team, ably led by Dr Rowland Uwakwe, for their support and the FRANCO-AE-FUNAI staff for joining in the discourse. The Guest Speaker, Professor Cresantus Biamba, was highly appreciated for the erudite and scholarly keynote lecture he delivered.
