Religious exclusivity is the absolute discounting of all other belief systems other than the one religion held to be the absolute truth, without variation. It is based on 'faith' and 'proof' on the evidence of ancient writings, teachings, revelations, alleged supernatural experience and prophecy. Religious exclusivity suggests that anyone outside the realms of its belief system is an infidel to be pitied, prayed for, evangelised to and avoided. There is no HOPE for salvation outside the exclusiveness of this religion. Large numbers of human beings that exist outside its 'walls' are condemned to eternal hopelessness and despondency.

Religious exclusivity is stubborn, unreasonable, arrogant and in many instances self contradictory. It fails to understand that if its religion was truly exclusive, there will be absolute unity within itself, with no recourse to contradictory positions and positioning. We all know that religions that claim to be exclusive are disunited and consist of exclusive sects each laying claim to the absolute truth.

Typically , adherents of exclusive religions became members almost overwhelming by birth and to a smaller extent through proselytising. Adherents are predominantly indoctrinated into the truths of an exclusive religion and discouraged from asking questions or researching the source of its claims. The religion would make bold, bogus, wild and extraordinary claims while manifesting little in the way of miracles, deliverance and resolution of nagging human problems. Furthermore, exclusive religions increase membership through intimidation tactics such as violence, terrorism and a perpetual threat of eternal doom. Indeed, most exclusive religions have expanded through wars, violence, colonialism and slavery.

Exclusive religions can be likened to a virus. They invade their host and spread to other hosts through the airing of myth, bold claims and outstanding falsehoods. It overthrows the belief systems, culture and traditions of its hosts and replaces them with its own way of life, its own belief system and its own tradition. Hence, the host becomes a slave of the virus, to the detriment of its wellbeing.

Religions of exclusivity have wasted many lives, defiled many children, invaded and overcome many nations, stolen wealth from countless adherents, destroyed infidels, banned free speech, cursed at unbelievers and relished in its absurdity, self righteousness and self proclaimed uniqueness.

God is not in the EXCLUSION business.

God is an all inclusive God. He is the creator, the source and sustainer of all his creation. He is no respecter of anyone who goes contrary to nature or shows profound disrespect for the wellbeing of his creation. God respects ONLY those who 'tremble' at his word. Here are some examples of God's word. I borrow these from Jewish writings but there are many such writings in other books and literature. I use the bible as a source due to my familiarity with its content.

1. "... were arrogant, overfed and unconcerned; they did not help the poor and needy" - Ezekiel 16:49

Relevance to exclusive religions - The religions of exclusivity steal from the needy , do not always help the poor among themselves and usually initiate projects with money from the poor that will not favour the poor. They invent more devious ways to steal from the poor, such as first fruits, multiple types of offerings and dubious investment schemes.

2. ".... He does not defile his neighbor’s wife or approach a woman during her period. He does not oppress another, but returns his pledge to the debtor. He does not commit robbery, but gives his bread to the hungry and covers the naked with clothing. He does not engage in interest ( usury ) or take excess interest, but he withholds his hand from iniquity and executes true justice between men" - Ezekiel 18:7-8

Relevance to exclusive religions - Exclusive religions contain some of the most abhorring sexual predators, adulterers, oppressors, robbers (think TITHES ) and loan sharks. The news is constantly saturated with cases of religious leaders raping little children , their members and sleeping with the wives of other men. In fact , it is a plague as I am sure we all know.

3. "With the tongue we praise our Lord and Father, and with it we curse human beings, who have been made in God's likeness " - James 3:9

Relevance to exclusive religions - not only do exclusive religions curse and belittle other cults within their exclusive religion, they also curse other men and women who hold contrary views and often verbally assail anyone who dares question the credibility of their claims. We see them here in Nairaland, day and night cursing out atheists, former Christians, former Muslims and members of other religions.
