Viral video shows how Arsenal were robbed when losing their unbeaten run to Manchester United

Mike Riley should always be ashamed, he helped Manchester United to end Arsenal’s unbeaten run in the 2004/05 season

Arsenal’s best moment of the 2019/20 season came when Watford beat Liverpool 3-0.

Arsenal fans celebrated the win just as much as relegation-threatened Watford as Jurgen Klopp’s side lost for the first time.

The Reds were looking as though they would go the entire campaign unbeaten heading into the game at Vicarage Road with 26 wins from their 27 matches.

But after winning 18 consecutive league matches, they succumbed to Nigel Pearson’s side meaning they couldn’t match Arsenal’s incredible ‘Invincible’ season.

Back in 2003/04, the Gunners went the whole season without losing a single league game.

In fact, their unbeaten run reached 49 matches as it continued into the 2004/05 season – an unbeaten record that still stands in the Premier League.

But it was ended when they travelled to Old Trafford to face Manchester United in October 2004. They lost 2-0 but that doesn’t even begin to tell the whole story.

If you want to know the whole story, a viral 10-minute video will go some way to explaining exactly what happened.

What you’ll witness is a host of shocking tackles – mostly on the late Jose Antonio Reyes – as well as a horrific studs-up challenge by Ruud van Nistelrooy on Ashley Cole. There’s also Rio Ferdinand bringing down Freddie Ljungberg as last man and referee Mike Riley not even giving a foul.

Worst of all is United’s penalty award in the 73rd-minute after Wayne Rooney dived under the ‘tackle’ of Sol Campbell.

Van Nistelrooy stuck the penalty away – something he failed to do in the previous season – to give United a 1-0 lead before Rooney made it 2-0 in injury-time.

Arsenal were fuming.

And it led to “Pizzagate.”

There was allegedly a tunnel fracas before the ‘battle of the buffet’ as Sir Alex Ferguson was reportedly hit by a flying pizza slice.

The culprit? Arsenal’s Cesc Fabregas.

In an episode of ‘A League Of Their Own,’ Fabregas was asked by host James Corden whether it was he who chucked a pizza at Fergie.

“Tonight, can we finally put the case of the flying pizza to bed once and for all? Were you the culprit that thew the pizza?” Corden asked.

“Yes,” replied Fabregas.

“All of a sudden, I heard noises (from the tunnel) and I thought what’s happening? So I go out with my slice of pizza and I saw Sol Campbell, Rio Ferdinand, Martin Keown… everyone pushing each other.
