Coca-Cola is one of the world's oldest brands dating back to the19th century when John Pemberton invented the soft drink in Atlanta, Georgia.

Presently the company sells over 1.8 billion servings daily in all parts of the world except Cuba and North Korea where the drink is officially not sold. But why Cuba and North Korea?

Cuba
Cuba was one of the first three countries outside the United States to bottle the soft drink back in 1906. The soft drink thrived in Cuba until 1960 when Fidel Castro assumed power.

Castro's government initiated a nationalization program in which the government seized or nationalized the assets of all the foreign companies operating in Cuba. This prompted Coca-Cola to move out of the country and has since never returned.

Also the economic and commercial embargo placed on Cuba by the U.S means no American firm including Coca-Cola is allowed to trade with Cuba.


North Korea
Korea was split into North and South after the second World War in 1945. South Korea was occupied by the U.S while the North was occupied by Soviet Union.

The US imposed trade restrictions on North Korea during the 1950s which was later tightened due to their nuclear program. The embargo means no American firm is allowed to trade with North Korea.

However, following reports that the drink was being sold in a restaurant in the North Korean capital Pyongyang, Coca-Cola denied the report insisting that if the product is being sold in North Korea or Cuba then it is not through their official channels.

So if you are one of those that can't stay without the dark fizzy soda,you may as well have to reconsider your travel plans next time you plan to visit any of the two countries above.

My own question is why do they sell toxic soda in Nigeria ... why is it poisonous to mix soda and paracetamol
