The Lagos State Government has said that students will be taught eight subjects at home through television and radio broadcast due to the coronavrivus pandemic.

Mrs Folasade Adefisayo, Commissioner for Education, in a statement on Saturday said that the programmers would ensure that students are engaged during the period of school closure.

She also said that the programmers would have teachers in specialised core subjects like Mathematics, English language, Physics, Chemistry, Biology, Economics, Literature in English and Financial Accounting.

She also explained that the teachings would be recorded and circulated on all social media platforms for easy accessibility by students.

The tutorial programmes are targeted at the students getting ready for their West Africa Examination Council (WAEC), she said.

The commissioner warned parents against patronising private tutorial centres during the period of school closure to avoid the spread of coronavrivus.

She said, “Parents should ensure that their wards stay at home during this period and tune their radio or television sets to listen and watch Lagos sponsored teaching programmes,”

She advised students to maintain basic hygiene, avoiding body contact, regular hand washing, use of alcohol-based hand sanitizer and voiding body contact.
