As much as anyone out there, right now, we are scared of the future – what the next three to six months may look like due to the coronavirus outbreak. At Lingo Africa, we receive a lot of messages from people who are genuinely worried about the fate of their budding careers at the end of this pandemic.

Lingo Africa, being the foremost human capital development platform in Abuja understands that at the moment, fear is the one thing that connects an executive in Angola to a Real Estate Investor in Atlanta Georgia. We also understand that the coronavirus outbreak will impact on the world economy as well as on individual lives, even those who remain untouched by the disease.

So, we are saying, this is the time we all need to rethink our humanity. Prior to the coronavirus outbreak, we were a divided world in so many ramifications, especially in terms of religion, sexuality, ethnicity, nationality, interests, etc. since the coronavirus outbreak, we have all noticed that the disease does not ask for any of these differences before it ravages through the body of the host.

It is high time that we rally around each other and support each other through this crisis against humanity and come out of it stronger. The coronavirus outbreak may have claimed a lot of lives however, it has also taught us, especially professionals the value of human lives and the futility of office politics.

A lot of our clients are worried about their careers – this is a valid feeling. Some of them wonder if they will still have a job after the crisis, others fear what may become of their sector once the coronavirus outbreak is over, while some others wonder if the crisis will last the entire year!

As always, we want to encourage all professionals who struggle with these thoughts as well as those who are still adjusting to working from home, that while their fears and thoughts are legitimate, they must focus on staying safe and ensuring they do not fall victim to the coronavirus outbreak.

That being said, we have always advocated for different career paths for each professional. We reckon there are several talents and abilities specific to each individual. If you are worried about keeping your job amid the coronavirus outbreak, take this time on self-isolation to educate yourself on a likely career path to pursue. You can learn through online courses, online workshops and, seminars, as well as keeping in touch with an expert who can mentor you in that regard.

Stop worrying and start making plans to remain afloat even if your industry goes belly-up as a result of the coronavirus outbreak.
