Enugu Electricity Distribution Company (EEDC) has attributed current loss of supply being experienced in parts of its network to the heavy rain/windstorm which occurred Tuesday evening and early Wednesday.

The Head, Corporate Communications, EEDC, Mr Emeka Ezeh, disclosed this in a statement made available to newsmen on Wednesday in Enugu.

Ezeh said that the company expressed that the situation led to loss of several High Tension (HT) and Low Tension (LT) poles, aluminum conductors and other line accessories, resulted to power outage on most of its 33KV and 11KV feeders.

According to him, the heavy storm which occurred yesterday in Enugu and Anambra States, and in the early hours of today at Imo and Abia States respectively, destroyed electrical installations within the affected states, but mostly in Enugu State.

As a result of this, some of our feeders are out on fault, and this has led to loss of electricity supply to our customers in the affected areas,’’ he said.

The spokesman said that EEDC, however, assured its customers that the company’s technical teams are already working to evaluate the damages and immediately carry out repairs.

We appeal for understanding of our customers; while we assess the situation, work at addressing them and restoring power supply to the affected customers.

“We regret the inconvenience this situation has caused our esteemed customers and assure them that supply will be gradually restored as repairs are completed,’’ Ezeh assured.

He also urged EEDC esteemed customers to use the established contact channels to report faults, lodge complaints or make enquiries.
The channels include: the 24/7 Call Center on: 084 700 100; Email: customerservice@enugudisco.com; Social media platforms (Twitter and Facebook: @enugudisco; Instagram: @enugu_disco).

Customers are also advised to report accidents and emergency cases by calling: 0815 082 4301,’’ he said

Meaning it might be restored in few days. Whereas in other African countries thunder storms rarely affect their power supply
