Coronavirus: Patients Who Lied About Their Travel History All Tested Positive, 1 Dead In Benin City.

3 patients were tested positive for Coronavirus. 1 of them is dead.
ALL of them denied coming back from Europe and have exposed health workers to the virus.

Right now, 25 doctors have now gone into isolation in UBTH Benin.

This happened today in University of Benin Teaching Hospital in Edo State.

The patients were admitted via A and E with complaints of cough, difficulty in breathing, catarrh but they all DENIED their travel history.

They were initially tested as negative and they were then transferred to the open ward where they had contact with many doctors, nurses, cleaners, and health workers.

Also, One of them deteriorated so bad and they repeated the test for all of them after 72hours- it came back POSITIVE.

The one that deteriorated had kidney problems and is now dead.

However, 25 medical doctors have now gone into isolation in UBTH.

Of that 25, thirteen are doctors who just graduated from medical school.

It is wickedness for a patient to lie about his/ her travel history especially if it concerns Coronavirus infection.

I expect health workers to watch out for symptoms that may give out signals irrespective of travel history because we have local transmissions of this virus in Nigeria already, and should not expose themselves unnecessarily.

But These Health Experts Know The Symptoms Of Corona, even they do tell us if u hav any of these symptoms call covid19 special numbers.. i blame the doctors mostly

Some renowned private hospitals now make their car park d first point of call for patients. They meet them there with their protective gears&check for corona virus symptoms before any other thing.

Secondly, protective gear shouldn't be for just doctors; every staff should have it on now but this is Nigeria where everything good as far as this subject is concerned is scarce even before there is any major surge. Beyond medical personnel and staff, what about other patients and even family members that will not be restricted from visiting?

When a govt of 200 million people is happy that 1500 tests can be done daily and results can take up to 48 hours we know there is danger ahead

I can't just fathom why some people just decided to endanger their lives & that of others.
My thoughts and prayers are with the affected doctors, nurses, cleaners and health workers.
