Another Conspiracy Theory?

A study is currently going on in Australia

It is looking like BCG vaccine is protective against Corona Virus. Don't forget that BCG vaccine, once taken, confers lifetime immunity against Tuberculosis

What are they saying?

The COVID-19 has some structural similarity to Mycobacterium TB that allows antibodies produced against Mycobacterium TB act against COVID-19, hence deactivating it.

Till date Nigeria alone has had 23 recovered cases and 4 deaths, both above 60yrs, people who could easily have died from a severe form of common cold.

Remember that in the last 50yrs, over 99% of Nigerians has received BCG vaccine, at one time or the other, with lifetime immunity against TB, do we have immunity against COVID-19 as well?

Research is ongoing on BCG as we speak in Australia

More anecdotal proofs shows that places where extended program on immunisation is entrenched have the fewest mortality rates, vis and viz, Africa, India and the Middle East

The entire Africa has recorded less than 300 deaths in the over 50,000 deaths the entire globe has recorded. Do you still think it is a coincidence?

And the incubation period of this virus is 7 to 14 days within which time frame the death rates in Europe has reach astronomical numbers, we have only 2 deaths!

I speak as a scientist, of which we need more proofs than just anecdotes and statistics but you can see how Africans may not be badly hit?

The CMD of UCH was positive for COVID-19 a week ago, he is now negative. He is in his 60s

Is it the color of our skin?

No!

Blacks are dying in thousands in the USA and Europe as well. Could it be because they never had BCG vaccine ?

Likewise a True African in USA or Europe is unlikely to die from COVID-19

It is not the color of our skin. It is not our weather.

Could it be because virtually ALL of us have had BCG vaccination at childhood? ‍♀️

Same argument goes for malaria endemicity and the age long use of chloroquine to treat malaria but the evidence on that is not yet as robust as that of BCG vaccination

As I said earlier, let's continue to observe all safety measures prescribed but I strongly believe Nigerians and majority of Africa and the Middle East and India have been spared the deadly effect of this global scourge!

Nigerians, don't be overwhelmed with the above information, just be prepared and observe personal hygiene and social Distancing.
