This is the headline we love to see, but it's no different from the request made by innoson.. I only converted N4bn to dollars, while changing the beneficiary..

Guess what, it what a very good percentage of Nigerians would love to see, read, support and append signatures for immediate transfer to begin production.

The social media was awash with ridicule by the FG and Nigerians at large for innoson to have made a request to the FG to partner with it in production of Ventilators, thereby giving it monopoly since it's not an essential commodity and the demand being high now is just because of the current pandemic the world is in..

Nigeria since 1914 has less than 500 ventilators despite over 200m population while USA before the pandemic had less than 5000 ventilators with over 300m population despite existing for centuries, how does one go into mass production without monopoly of such equipment when the current demand is artificial..

Some may claim innoson should expand its market to attract buyers, and I ask... can Nigeria buy crude from Angola?.. these are Nations that have the capability and capacity to manufacture it's own ventilators, why would they opt for made in Nigeria. Then they asked, "he should concentrate on Africa"... if Nigeria with over 200m population has less than 500 and US with over 300m had less than 5000 ventilators, how many then would a population of 10 - 30m require to sustain an African company trying to reach an international audience..

Worst case scenerio, the FG could have demanded Bids for Manufacture of ventilators from indigenous companies to compare and contrast, rather than the response from Bashir Ahmed (SA media)..

Just trying to make common sense..

That's even too cheap.

They should pay 100 million instead.

Foolish leader that can spend billions to buy cars even when salaries have not been paid.

Buhari minister can claim she has disbursed 72 billion Naira to imaginary households in the north but the same govt can't place an order of 4 billion naira to get much needed ventilators

Nigerian government MUST not go china. Rather, they should go to Germany or other European countries. The type of ventilators China offers America isn't of the same standard with what they'd offer our government. GE for instance, is an American company cited in china. They manufacture ventilators for American and a few European markets and MUST meet the required standard approved by FDA or CE and it wouldn't sell for same amount to Nigerian government because of cost.

I remember a day we were called by a doctor one of the lagos island hospitals to and diagnose their ventilator which was donated by an NGO. A patient died in the ventilator. All the modes and parameters were working as normal and medics thought the patient was still kicking meanwhile, the body had become stiff. We simply told them it's a Chinese ventilator and so, we wouldn't be able to diagnose it. It's one small PCB controlling everything, including the modes. We condemned it.

On whether innoson could manufacture a ventilator or not, im sure he just wanted his voice heard. He himself knows what is involved. It's not a child's play. He would have to sell off his automobile plant first and then borrow billions of dollars to set up a ventilator factory. R&D annually alone would gulp over 40m USD minimum. Professors of medicine, renown Teaching hospitals globally would have to be involved in this. Information on patients recovery, weaning off, tolerance, etc would need to be gathered on a constant basis. International certifying organisations like TUV would be visiting to monitor compliance from time to time. No compromise would be tolerated else the whole batch produced would be condemned. These aren't the people you could bribe . Precision, electrical safety, etc would be closely monitored because a ventilator behaves like human and so, must do exactly what you instructed it to do. Just as it stands as a life-saving equipment, it could also serve as a killer equipment.

An average German ventilator costs 7 million naira. That's a cost of a whole brand new car from innoson. A neonatal ventilator costs a min of 10m naira, either made in Germany or America. The prices quoted are ex-works only( without shipping, clearing, delivery and mark up or profit).

Innoson should just concentrate on his automobile business except he wishes to be manufacturing stand alone devices such as Cpap or Bipap, each of which is one of the ventilation modes in an ICU ventilator. An average medical equipment dealer in Nigeria would offer a german brand for as much as 10m naira. The neonatal version costs up to 16m naira and this alone would buy 2 innoson vehicles. Many companies have merged with major ventilator manufacturers because they couldn't cope with ever-increasing running costs. This isn't like butter and bread which people buy every day. A manufacturer might not sell more than 300 units globally in a year yet salaries must be paid to staff globally. They only make money from the sale of accessories.

Tell me why government need to patner with him to build ventilator. Is it because he is igbo man.Why can't he produce and give Biafrians states instead of the audio 2.5 billion he denoted to fed for the Corona support. The cars he is producing did he seek partnership. The ventilator cost btw 12 million - 18 million. He should produce for other African countries to buy.The truth is he doesn't have capacity to produce and making noise. What he has is an assembling plant and not manufacturing plant. He is just a guy man. This is not G t bank. This is how he made noise he will take over gtbank for how much.Last year gtbank made close to 200 billion profit alone.we are igbos and know the trust worthy ones

Igbo and their foolish support for their kinsmen. By the way is Innoson the only automobile company in the country? If he means business he should produce the prototype or sample of the ventilator. Innoson has been one of most beneficiaries of the FG still they want to create enemies for him. This is one of the reasons it will be difficult for ibo to rule or govern the country. If igbo were to be present president of Nigeria, He will force Innoson products on every Nigeria.

If you have ventilators for sale, please advertise them and Government will buy just like it has been buying the cars for FRSC, Police etc.

I read through the thread yesterday where our brothers from the EAST were wailing about Innoson been sidelined and citing Dangote as gotten financial backing from the FG particularly when it has to do with his refinery. Those guys can't cease to amaze me. And I think with them all about digging for any information against the FG to paint every other tribe and the central government black, we just need to put them in there corner for good. FOR ONCE STOP THE COMPARISON, dANGOTE AND iNNOSON ARE NOT MATES. Infact, he has a good lot to learn from Dangote instead.
i DON'T KNOW WHERE THESE PEOPLE GET THEIR INFORMATION FROM ABOUT THE CBN LOANING THE COMPANY FUND FOR THE PROJECT BUT WHAT WAS CLEAR WAS THE FACT THAT THE DANGOTE GROUP SOURCED THE FUND THAT WAS USED IN BUILDING THE REFINERY PROJECT FROM EXTERNAL ENTITY. The link below should clear your doubt but you may need to consult google for further proof if not satisfied. Of course, quite a number of news outlet in the country both offline and online covered it. The link below:
www-nairaland-com.0.freebasics.com/1415180/dangote-construct-refinery-petrochemical-complex/1?iorg_service_id_internal=803478443041409">https://https-www-nairaland-com.0.freebasics.com/1415180/dangote-construct-refinery-petrochemical-complex/1?iorg_service_id_internal=803478443041409%3BAfpRUw_DyqvH-N5T
To start with, I'm not a northerner so this doesn't feel like I have the interest of the tribe at heart but I just can't overlook misinformation especially when someone is making it lokk like a certain group or individual are/is being marginalized. Feel free to go through my posts to clear your doubt over this.
The post I provided was when Dangote declared the amount needed to get the refinery into existence. He said the whole project would cost a whooping $9billion out of which he planned to source between $3.5-$4billion from his company account while FINANCIER, provide the remaining loan. He went on to comfirmed that the two parties have met and the deal to procure $5.5billion had been agreed which was to be signed that September. That was 2013 when he was proposing to cite the project in both Ondo and Ogun before disagreement between the company and the Ondo state government meant Fashola took advantage of the situation to persuade him to consider citing the entire project in Lagos instead. This thing is on the internet; clear your doubt.
So like I had said in previous post, there ain't no comparison here. The Dangote guy saw opportunity and like he said in the interview in the news article, he wasn't even targetting Nigeria but the whole Sub-Sahara Africa because, as he posited, none of the countries in focus had got a new refinery built around that period. Now how does his case compare with Innoson? Take away that tribal veil from your eyes, this guy is a complte businessman. His focus was different. His drive is exemplary, challenging.
Of course, kudos to the Lagos State government for providing an enabling environment for his progress not only on this refinery project but also on all other aspect of his business of which Lagos remain, undoubtedly, his biggest market and kudos to the FederalGovernment for the ease of business policies aiding both start-ups and established enterpreneurs to develop independently but that doesn't mean he get extraordinary favour above others. Come to think of it, he even said in one of his interview early last year or late 2018 that he wasn't going to give the FG any discount on purchase other than the consideration on the cost of transit from his facility to the destination of the supply. Does that sound like one who is indebted to the FG?
Lastly, to butress my point on the focus of the company over the supply and sale of oil to and fro the facility, the mindset of servicing the Sub-Sahara brought Lagos into making the decision of setting up the LASG Lekki deep sea-port project which, unlike the Innoson that's on the FG neck to sell his intended product, is aimed at enabling easy access to the sea for the movement of crude oil into the facility and the exportation of refined products to all port of needs outside the country; among many other Lagos state import and export activities. Although, for the fact that Lagos State remains under the FG, the latter will also have her custom personnels around to monitor all transit.

Well if FG agrees to the offer, let them test all the ventilators on the Chinese first. They are dishonest and wicked people
