Customs: Buhari orders releases of 150 trucks of Rice

President Buhari has ordered the Nigeria Customs Service to release 150 trucks of seized rice for possible distribution to Nigerians.

This was revealed by the Minister of Finance, Budget and National Planning, Mrs Zainab Ahmed.

She further stated that the seized trucks of rice had already been handed over to the Ministry of Humanitarian Affairs and Disaster Management for immediate distribution to Nigerians.

“We don’t want to rush and announce measures that will end up benefiting only a few of the segments. Our interest is to make sure that as much as possible a lot of Nigerians are productive and have liquidity in their hands.

“This will help to increase the consumption thereby assist to improve the economy.

“This is not something we will announce in a hurry without consulting with the central ministry and also without consulting with the key participants in the sector” she added.

So far Nigeria has recorded 232 cases of the Coronavirus disease, with 33 discharged and 5 deaths recorded.

Exactly my thoughts.

Rice that have expired or stored with dangerous pesticides are now being released to the same public they sensitized not to eat foreign rice.

Someone has selective amnesia here.
