Abubakar Tafawa Balewa University (ATBU) Bauchi make a breakthrough, unveils; Ventilator, Automatic Disinfection Chamber, #COVID19 detection APP and Aerosol Boxes.

1. Automatic Ventilator with Solar powering and DC backup helps patient with breathing difficulty or any other respiratory disease, ventilators are currently scarce and it is critical for patients that need it.

The device can run for hours even when there is no electricity. It is easy and portable for medical use, it can be produced in mass within short period of time to address the current global shortage of ventilators.

2. Aerosol Box: The Aerosol box is a protective device that gives medical personnel extra protection when handling patients with COVID-19 and other respiratory diseases, particularly during intubation. The device allows smooth clinical manipulations required for successful intubation.

3. Automatic disinfection chamber: Disinfection is a necessity as it ensures containment of outbreak where disease pathogens get transferred from one person to another. This can happen in public places and particularly hospitals. Most people don't disinfect their cloths when entering or exiting hospital wards. The disinfection chamber is wired with sensors that detect presence of a human being, once there is someone inside the chamber, the disinfectant is
automatically spread on the person from all directions.

4. CT Scan based COVID-19 detection. This was achieved through the use of computing and artificial intelligence. This solution is a software/app that runs through the CT Scan result of patients to detect early COVID-19 symptoms from lung. The application can help in fast tracking screening process, thus enabling the usage of PCR testing for patients initially screebed and confirmed positive by the computer application via their CT Scan results.
