Majority of Africans, most especially we Nigerians like joining the bandwagon. We are so fond of making generalisations, spreading unconfirmed news and stories and we tend to conclude that a phenomenon is true because many or most people believe it and a particular behavior is good because many or most people portray the behavior.

Bandwagon effects according to Wikipedia is a phenomenon whereby the rate of uptake of beliefs, ideas, fads and trends increases the more that they have already been adopted by others.

Most Nigerians tend to generalise a certain idea based on the general thoughts and beliefs about the idea which may be wrong. They hop in the bandwagon without reasoning, even regardless of the underlying evidence that the idea is wrong.

An example of bandwagoning is the recent conspiracy theories flying around on social media that 5G technology is the cause of the Coronavirus pandemic in the world.

We must all acknowledge that the fact that many people agree to a viewpoint does not make it right neither does it make it wrong, it just needs to be prove wrong or right.

The most amazing thing about joining the bandwagon is that the journey is smooth in the beginning when you're basking in the euphoria of ignorance until the wagon crashes.

Don't make foolish generalisations and assertions out of the conformity and pressure of the general viewpoints and ideas,

DON'T RIDE IN THE BANDWAGON BECAUSE YOUR JOURNEY MAY NOT END SMOOTHLY!!!
