At Born Photo place in Idi Arere, Ibadan, there was a pandemonium following a bloody battle between two rival cult groups that left no less than 15 people wounded.

On Saturday night, sounds of deafening intermittent gunshots boomed in the city, causing panic among Gege, Ita-Sakun, Ita-Maya, and Ibadan’s Oke-Ado residents.

Protection in the region was reportedly beefed up after the bloody battle between two rival gangs.

Bloody clashes among rival cult groups in the areas have claimed several lives in recent past, even forcing residents to flee from the high risk areas due to incessant bloody clashes among the rival cults.

It was gathered that fight broke out in the area as two factional groups, whose identities were not yet known, were lurking in a supremacy battle.

Although the actual cause of the clash could not be ascertained from the time of filing this article.

An eyewitness said during the battle, which lasted more than an hour, one person was seriously injured.

He, however, said that the condition of the injured persons could not be determined as they were rushed to an undisclosed hospital.

When contacted for reaction, the Police Public Relations Officer, Oyo State Command, Olugbenga Fadeyi, confirmed the incident.

He said police had been sent to the scene to prevent the law and order from being completely violated.

Fadeyi said: “There was a dispute. Police had been in the area after the incident happened to calm the situation down.

“Our people are still on the stand to ensure that law and order are not broken.”
