I experienced this shit. Is not updates that causes it . There is something Airtel is not telling us because it just started all if a sudden. Someone advised I get a new sim as it has happened to him before. I just switched to MTN . Been cool since.

Windows 10 is designed for PCs with unlimited Internet connections, and it normally uses as much of your download and upload bandwidth as it wants without asking.

So, you need to set your internet as a metered connection to preserve your data. Check the link below on how to set it up:

It can be the windows store updating apps in the background

Simple just go into settings and disable background apps and Windows update

It can also be windows security updating also

It's not Airtel, definitely windows 10. Next time observe your bandwidth consumption rate via resource monitor to know the PiD of the processes eating up your data. Cross reference with task manager to force stop those processes.
This is just a temporary fix though.
You might also like to ensure the connection you use is set as metered. If your windows installation isn't broken, this should solve a large part of the problem you're encountering

Airtel Data is Trash bro. Even in Mobile devices it just Vanish anyhow with no explanation. But since I port to Glo LTE I now have peace of mind with Enough data and Bonus extra Airtime.

How can an educated person say its airtel, dont u have software to check ur data usage,, even ur android phone can tell u your data consumption, compare it with what u subscribed for, you will see that what u used us actually what u subscribed for

You are lucky am seeing your response late you dum head. Measure your data and find out that what you use is not actually what is removed from yur data cap. I have done dis before and it doesn't add up. It's not a matter of education is a matter of common sense professor. This doesn't happen to all sim and even Airtel has confirm this to me. Have you ever noticed how bonus airtime burn quickly more that regular airtime ? Same applies for data consumptions. They have several unique points for charging you per 1mb used on the internet. Get sense bro

Some of the guys here are dumb, I will like to mention here that some of the networks provided do manipulate data being bought from them, however I will not mention names here for future sake. It only those that are wise that could understand the logic behind this.
