Intercontinental bank asked 350 bankwide to resign their appointment with immediate effect in Dec-2010. Most of the officer are said to be key officers and hard working officers of the bank. Knowing fully well that most of the branches are shortstaff after the tsunami of Dec-2009 and officers had no choice but to combine more that 2 job functions to ensure service delivery is perfect, with that the bank still experienced service failure in branches. Now the bank still believe some staff can be asked to resign. Quality of services had started showing with long queues on ATM during the new year holidays and more still expected after resumption of banking services this new year. If not for the fighting spirit of the staff affected in Dec-2009 they wouldn't have paid the officers involved. With the way the officers were adviced to resign i doubt if the bank is willing to pay them off. The world is watching the bank with keen interest. They said the bank is happy bank but staff are overworked and sad.

Well, i can't blame the mgt because the bank is already a dead bank since 2009 so any intelligent staff ought to have been saving 50% of their salary because it will surely happen on day. May GOD saves naija bankers ooooooooo

@poster, sorry if you or anyone close to you was affected by the sack, but the news on ThisDay on Friday was that 650 was promoted and 171 sacked.

IBPLC is a mess. They and ocanic sack recklessly. In kano 75 were affected. A branch close to me sacked HOP,BM,CASH OFFICER.Nigerians should do a mass action against this evil. Its TERRORISM. Many have died cos of this. Nigerians should stop patronizing this banks since they dnt have our interesst at heart.

I thought we were told that the new management are there to restore the bank,but
contrary to this,news from grapvine suggest that they are birds of a feather.
We were told that out of the 653 promoted only few are junior staffs.As we were told,the bank is now TOP HEAVY
meaning that in the event of new management coming in,they will be paid huge sums.
The staffs largely affected are from AM-AGM.Ask Layi The MD,how many AGM and DGM they have presently in the bank?.Abeg more in the archive

why is it only the sack that you are announcing. what of the promotion they did?

only God knows where you got your information from, as 171 staff were asked to go and not 350 as you claim.

I would advise that you stop this act. it is a new year. it doesn't pay. these forms of scandals go along way to make more staff get affected because you raise panick in the industry, which affects customers reactions, and therefafter more downsize. Just keep quiet and pray if you are concerned.

what smithoo is saying is true. Forget what the paper say. Are u new in the country. IBPLC as someone said is a SMOOKED FISH. I just pray those affected will find a better job. They do not have direction.
