*Who did we offend?*

I will be the last person to strike a cord of disunity in our society being an unrepentant patriot of this dear country. Just to quickly affirm my position, Nigeria will be great again; Never take this as an illusion nor abject pessimism that has enveloped our society.

Where will I start from? There are so many attendant lessons that comes with this pandemic and if we must choose to learn one thing, let it be drummed into your ears that Nigerians are not ready for an iota of liberation let alone full liberation.

I have posited that the challenges of this country is a contributory one- one checkered with incompetent Government and greedy citizens.

The genesis of what’s bedeviling us emanated from the rulers at the corridor of power who are bereft of an atom of humanity coupled with servile and greedy citizens.

We are faced with a potential explosion of this virus not because our government didn’t know that it was time to close the border but because their dear kith and kins haven’t arrived the country even when they know this dastardly act will subject them to public scrutiny. What did the citizens do?

Again, at the inception, we have seen a parochial and uncoordinated handling of the pandemic. There was an observation of “who takes the credit” between Minister of Health and NCDC as some unfounded reports shows that some persons may not be that happy that the outside world is communicating with one of the party above than the other. Thank God that has changed !

When you ponder on some begging issues in this country, you will find that the lacuna between the bourgeoisie and proletariat keeps widening out with no correction in the offing. The aids, test kits, equipments, foods and other donations are being shared equally amongst states with a paltry difference for states with high covid19 breakout. The question is this, on what basis should all these be shared equally amongst states with one or no cases? On what basis should we share it equally with states that have no lockdown at all and states with additional 14 days extension?

It is heart renting and preposterous to subject our medical personnel to suicidal mission because they signed an oath. Most public and private hospitals do not have adequate and effective PPE yet we want to get the best out of it. Reports have shown that some medical practitioners scamper for safety at the sight of a coronovirus patient.

I will always vehemently hold the view that the big businesses in Nigeria aren’t doing enough; In this period, you will expect them to do more. Is it too much to give Nigerians free data? Is it too much to give us free subscription? Why donate money to the Fed Government when you can directly impact the lives of the rank and file? Can’t GTB, Access bank etc credit the account of their customers straight away and give the other half to the Fed Government? Can’t Dangote Noodles give Nigerians spaghetti, noodles etc? Is it out of place to give directly to Nigerians? Even some of the aids that landed in Lagos and affected states have been allegedly diverted.

The quest of liberation from this is becoming unrealistic and Quixotic. We need to face the rulers and further fight against the rape on our democracy. The only solution I foresee is one from the citizens and not the government.

It’s high time we demanded what’s right. What’s next after coronavirus exists the stage? Stop fighting and running after Pastors and Imams, are they your Government? They have a responsibility to the congregations and the society at large but don’t let us get things wrong. How many times have you seen citizens of US and U.K. fighting religious body to provide for them. Ask your government and let them be accountable. Each time I listen to BBC and CNN, I see how Trump and Boris Johnson come out almost every evening to douse the tension and allays the heightened fears of their citizens- we can’t say such here.

This is a time to reflect on our lives; This is a period to ponder on what life is all about; This is a time that has clearly evinced that no man is immune to death;

So I ask why live like you own tomorrow? God will heal the land when the people are ready for total liberation.

I won’t forget to thank Lagos state, NCDC, Commissioner of Health, Minister of Health and other relevant bodies of their concerted towards the fight against this virus. I am really taken aback by the level of commitment by the Governor and commissioner of health.

God will keep us safe.
