guru90:You are the one that is wrong my brother, you can only " CONTRACT A DISEASE" But you can not CONTACT it, it's not possible for you to contact a disease. NOTE: To ' Contract disease' means to develop an illness or acquire an illness. While to ' Contact disease' may mean to touch a disease, which is not possible. Have a wonderful day. 2 Likes |

guru90:It is not uncommon to see and hear people write and say or use the words ‘contact’ when talking about an infection or a disease. Speaker 1: He contacted HIV from unsterilized needles. Speaker 2: He contracted Zika virus while on holiday in Brazil. Let’s refer to dictionaries for help. Oxford Advanced Learner’s Dictionary (OALD) defines: CONTACT (n) (medical) a person who may be infectious because he/she has been near to somebody with a CONTAGIOUS disease. CONTRACT (v) (medical) to get an illness. Encarta Dictionaries defines: CONTACT: disease carrier: a person or an animal seen as a possible carrier of an infectious disease. CONTRACT: (Trans V) get illness: to catch or develop an illness. Speaker 2 is correct. To Contract is the appropriate word. I hope this improves your grammar. 2 Likes |

One of the problems of 9geria leaders is that they don't listen to the people's need and cry. Nigerians have been crying for closing of border but the govt kept mute until the virus was brought into the country. The second problem is govt rules only apply to the poor and non govt officials. Kyari arrive the country from COVID 19 hot zone. Instead of being quarantine as usual he was allowed to roam free..attending ceremony and traveling for interstate activities. This is also true for some other govt officials that came into the country b4 Kyari. As for the Chinese medical team. Since our govt officials can not run to abroad for medical treatment this time, they brought "abroad" to themselves. That's just it..they don't trust our health care system. Why should they? |

gbebodye:Before you hurl insults just try and look at things this way. First of all the claim was that they were racist vents by the Chinese against Africans, but are Nigerians the only blacks in China?, cause we didn't hear they evicted any other African nationals. Furthermore, the Chinese in their defense said they didn't have valid passports, and the landlords and hotel owners hosting those with invalid passports are at the risk of their properties being taken over by the government since the government is doing a nation wide testing for those people in China. Try and check it out before throwing insults. 1 Like |
