GMN Mourns Abba Kyari's Death, Asks Governors To Support President Buhari Now by GovsMandate: 2:35pm On Apr 18, 2020
Governor Mandate Network has condoled with President Muhammadu Buhari and the family and friend of the late Chief of Staff, Mallam Abba Kyari who died on Friday 17th April, 2020 after contracting coronavirus disease with attendant complications from other illnesses.

The Network in a statement signed by its Chairman, Earl Osaro Onaiwu stated that it is a sad time for those who know the erudite administrator personally, noting that the late Kyari was very versed and fiercely committed to his job.

According to him, President Buhari has lost one of the best hands in his government, someone who has been a pillar of support to him.

He further declared the death of the highly placed Chief of Staff was an instructive lesson for all that COVID 19 is real and deadly irrespective of status, gender, creed or religion, urging that the nation’s health facilities must be prioritized in government budgets at all levels of governance in the country.

Onaiwu therefore advised President Buhari not to allow a vacuum in governance by quickly identifying a successor who can effectively occupy the very big shoes of Abba Kyari. He further called on the Nigeria Governors Forum to rally round Mr. President at this time and ensure that governance does not breakdown.

The Chairman of Governors Mandate then prayed for peace and unity in the country while also praying that the souls of all those who have equally died as a result of coronavirus, find good repose.
