The Kebbi State Government has ordered the freedom of 111 detainees of correctional centres as a component of Federal Government's procedure to shield prisoners from contracting COVID-19 which is gradually spreading across the country.

The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that the request for their discharge was contained in an announcement by Malam Yahaya Sarki, the Special Adviser to Gov. Atiku Bagudu on Media in Birnin Kebbi on Wednesday.

“Kebbi state's attorney General and Commissioner for Justice, Hajiya Ramatu Adamu-Gulma, revealed that over 111 inmates were released during the exercise as performed by the judge of the state, Justice Sulaiman Muhammad-Ambursa at Argungu and Birnin Kebbi new and old Correctional Service Centres.
