I Just Finished Watching Game Of Thrones, These Are My Thoughts by DanHaske: 9:07am On Apr 25, 2020
I just finished watching all 8 seasons of game of thrones. The series was thrilling I must confess. But I must in all honesty condemn the last season. It was wack! As someone who likes to get into the head of script writers, I think the writers did a very terrible job. From character inconsistency, to changing of characters totally, to letting their preference for some characters influence their writing. They subsidized common sense so as to look unpredictable. When they ask you to draw something unique, you don’t draw a lion eating grass, lions don’t eat grass!
Inconsistent characters
For a movie to appear real, characters have to be consistent. For example, in the series “Empire” when Andre’s wife compared Lucious to her ex-husband, I knew exactly what he was going to say to her, and he said exactly that.
Tyrion was my favourite character. Whenever he opened his mouth to speak, I expect something that will make my head spin. But after season four when the original author of the story left the writing crew, the imp became on ordinary person and later a total fool. When he served as hand to Dany, he was no longer the smart guy, he was just an ordinary man who cared about the well-being of the people. Imagine Tyrion going to negotiate a truce with his Cercei!
Another was Jamie Lanistar. He was a bad boy, he became a good guy and later a guy madly in love and later a bad guy. The character was just all over the place. And then there was Dani Tagearyean. She was a liberator, a person who cared for the commons, whose ambition was to break the cycle of 1% lording over 99%. But in order to justify eliminating her at the end, they changed her in a week to a horrible person. It was funny how Tyrion was trying to explain to Lord Varys that she was always a horrible person. When you have to explain a movie in a movie, it means you have not done a good job.
now for the flaws in the story
Why did the night king want to kill Bran? Because Bran was the memory of the world (lie,), without our memories we are like the dead (another lie). The explanation given by Sam was total bull shit but many people just agreed to it without thinking. They made it look as if Bran died, the whole humans will lose their memory of just drop dead or something. I could have suggested a better reason for them. Like there was something that Bran could do to destroy the Knight king instantly and it was a matter of time before he discovered it so the Knight king needed him to be dead so that he wouldn’t discover it.
Why did the knight king have to kill Bran by himself? Anybody could kill the cripple. His army of the dead could have killed him, any of his knight walkers could have killed him. The knight king could have one the war if he just sat on his horse somewhere and kept raising the dead to continue fighting till everyone was dead, unless the army of the living found a way to get to him. But like I said, wack story.
What did Dani do after her allies were captured (the lady from Dorne and the Grejoy lady)? Nothing! In real situations, a conqueror will do something to free rescue his allies.
What did the dragon do after his mother was killed? He destroyed the iron throne. That’s all!
What did the dothraki blood riders do after their Khaleesi was killed? They were just looking like locozade.
And finally, the way it ended was disappointing for most. The world works to create a balance, I a ying-yang manner. Bad is balanced with good. Evil is punished and good is rewarded. That’s what gives humans satisfaction. That is why most movies end that way. The good guy always wins, or at least has a level of victory. In game of thrones, it seems the writers had soft spot for the character of Cercei Lanistar. She did all the evil imaginable as she pleased and always got away with it. At the end, she was rewarded with a death not by the sword or in the hands of anyone. She died in the hands of her lover. Jon snow was banished from the civilized world to live out the rest of his days in sorrow. He sacrificed more than any other character in that series. At the end of the day, they could have just broken up the 7 kingdoms to go their individual paths. If Sana could request independence for the North, Lory Aryn could also have requested same for the Vale and Uarah Grejoy for the iron islands and also Dorne.
Game of thrones could have been the greatest series ever produced. But they missed the chance!
I wish I could unwatch it. I guess I will read the book. Please anybody who knows where I can get the books from should point me to it

The writers told u plainly and in g rr Martins view that it was not to potray any heroes and there are non in the real world. Most heroes end up being villians as was the case of Dany with the death of the second dragon and lossing her maid whose last wish was to burn them all. Also it is to note that people get influenced and often tire out or become predictable . It's is normal for ppl to change and act in strange ways. In all the movie including the so called season 8 was not wack as u claimed just because it didn't give u an expected mind thrilling fantasy end.

Its not about the expected or unexpected ending. It is about the maturity of the story. Have you ever had an 8 year old tell you a story? That is how the last seasons turned out. Even G. R.R Martins was disappointed.

not all your point are valid ...majority of them are invalid ...Dany had always had that wickedness associated with Targaryen in her , she watched her brother burn without any iota of pity even thou he was a fool, she burnt a group of dothraki soldiers ...she kill all slave owners in that funny name town ...u are making it sound like she does not have a history of wickedness before burning down the city , wickedness is in her blood ...

Jamie ...he did not have the circumstances to support his bad boys nature all the time , circumstances happened, his hand was cut off , (he learnt a good lesson there, he comes back to his sense , even thou he still defend his sister , he knew it was stupid to remain in the south while the north fight the dead .... circumstances put a lot of senses in him ...it's practically normal ...his character changes with the circumstances of time at hand ....

Jon snow ...he kill the queen ....what else did u expect ?

cercei....her death was horrible ...what is more , u can be so wicked in real life and still escape all the consequences....yet the city burning was purely cercei fault even thou it was no longer necessary

the Imp? he was smart ...but the moment he has a course ...that is helping the queen get to the thrown especially when it involve his family ....u are bound to make lot of mistake...and he made them plenty

I do not lie. He praised the producers and all for giving life to his story. There is no where he defended the finale in the video which was adapted from what he posted on his blog which I had read. If you want to know his thoughts on the finale read this
https://www.vanityfair.com/hollywood/2019/10/game-of-thrones-ending-george-rr-martin-faithful.

PS: Not all of us watch movies and just clap at the end. It has to be logical and to be as real as it can

I still maintain that the end was logical. I mean take a look at Hitler he didn't rise to power being a villian,

You guys expect the usual happy ending but you often forget that reality is often disappointing.

In the end, GOT is what it is; a movie series.

Get over it people!

To be honest, Game of thrones season 8 was disappointing in every manner. I agree with every point the OP raised.
Re: I Just Finished Watching Game Of Thrones, These Are My Thoughts by eagleccentric(m): 7:06pm On Apr 30, 2020
To err my own views too, I think season 8 was very disappointing. Here are my thots
1. Tyrion Lanister has always been my favourite star in the whole series. However, his betrayal of Lord Varys was unforgivable being one of the few man who really never wanted the Throne but lived to serve the people. The only other person was Jon Snow. He also made too many errors as the series wound down. I dont think he deserved to be hand of the king to Bran. They should have given it to Sir Davros.
Lessons learned; Dont join somebody to fight his family, blood is thicker than water. Despite Cersei's hatred for him, he still made a way of escape for her. This sha is personable.

2. Sir Bronn of the Blackwater. Another of my favourite xters, but me thinks he did not deserve a prize like high garden as a reward in the end. He was a sell sword and such people who live like that should not earn such a reward. Yes he wanted to settle down to a nice quiet and peaceful life, but rewarding him with such a prize is like say giving Asari Dokubo Minister of FCT.

3. Sansa Stark did nothing to merit her queen ship of the north other than the physical abuse at the hands of that horrible Bolton bastard. Did she suffer as much as Arya? Her brother ended King of the 6 kingdoms and she took the north. I dont think she deserved it.

4. Jon Snow. Chai. Suffer suffer suffer to help others. Suffered at the hands of Cat Stark who never accepted him. Had no desire for the throne and lived to help others. Yet ended back on the wall. Not fair.

5. Danaery's death. No drama about it. Apart from that unwanton desire for the throne, the only bad thing she really did was destroying kings landing and many innocent lives in it. She still didn't deserve to die so cheaply. Like somebody else said, her not doing anything to help her captured allies Uara Greyjoy and Ellaria Sand was very disappointing for me.

6. One of the greatest low points for me was the death of Rickon Stark. The little boy suffered too much.

In all I feel Season 5 was the most intriguing.

My thots...

Dany's brother has always been cruel to her ever since they were small. He's so obsessed with the iron throne that he sold his sister to a bunch of savages and he even told her that he was willing to let her get raped by all them even their horses as long as it gave him the iron throne.

Viserys died because of his foolishness, imagine, you married out your sister to a savage dorthraki which made her rise to a status of a khaleesi (queen) and then threaten to cut out her baby with a sword in front of her husband if he doesn't give him his supposed "army" during a ritual which mind you, forbade the use of weapons.

That is stupidity to the highest level and as a result was killed by khal drogo. If you were in dany's shoes would you feel any ounce of sympathy for such a person even if he was your brother? But she still loved him sha, she named one of her dragons after him.

She killed those dorthraki blood riders because they threatened to rape her, remember they captured her and when they found out she was the wife of a dead khal, they tried putting her in a house along with other wives of dead khals as per tradition. What would you have her do? This is game of thrones for crying out loud, you have to be ruthless to survive.

Those slave owners also deserved to die although I wished she had given them a fair trial first but for someone who detests slavery, she jumped into action.

You call her wicked, but you forget that Arya killed Warder Frey's sons, cut them up and cooked them into a pie and served him, isn't that ruthless but no they said it was revenge for killing her family. Why is dany's own different? We need to strike a balance here.

Jaime was simply confused. I don't know if i should blame the writers for that or him. This man helped them to fight the wight walkers, he even began a relationship with brienne of tharth and we thought he had changed.

There was even a fan made theory about Jaime coming back to kill his sister and that would be awesome but he didn't, after everything he ran into her arms and died with her.

Jon snow was so clueless even to the last minute, he killed her because Tyrion convinced him to. Tyrion became unwise in the long run as a result of the writers, how did he imagine in his life that cersei would negotiate with him when she wanted to execute missandei?

Cersei that lost her daughter because of him?

cersei that tried to kill him because she taught he killed joffery?

An evil vindictive cersei, who blew up a whole building even though I think those religious fanatics deserved it well except for margeary. Cersei's death was not horrible enough.

You also talk about tyrions soft spot for his family, forgetting that he killed his father while he was taking a sh..it.

I think the reason the writers gave for dany burning kings landing was wack, they didn't foreshadow her slow dissent to madness at all.

GOT is an epic masterpiece, but the last season made it lose its chance as my number one best series of all times. The season finale made no sense.. Total BS.

The first five seasons were fantastic, as the best tv series for me. However, I did not expect that the last seasons were so garbage.

Hate how D&D betrayed the audience. Hopefully, D&D's career will end here.
