Anyways, Nigeria is a country with lot of ethnic diversity and culture, so does the rulers varries. This article does not specify a name as the richest traditional ruler in Nigeria.

Rather, it's entails list of the richest traditional rulers in Nigeria with no specific rankings. And that's why all will be referred with one sub title.

Oba Obateru Akinrutan

Quoting Frobes “Obateru Akinrutan is the richest king in Nigeria”. Clearly, this rich traditional ruler was born in 1950 and he leads the people of Ugbo Kingdom. This City is located in Ilaje Local Government of Ondo State.

Undoubtedly, he is listed among the Billionaires Monarch in Nigeria.
The wealth the investment of Oba Akinrutan is so vast from Oil and Gas to real estate, international business deals and so on.

The popular Obat Oil is to his credit. And as of today, the Oil company has over 50 gas stations across every state in Nigeria



King Edward Asimini William Dappa Pepple III

His Royal Majesty, King Edward Asimini William Dappa Pepple III, CON, JP, Perekule XI. Is the ruling leader of the Ancient Grand Bonny Kingdom.

His Majesty was Born on the 11th of June 1965 into the Perekule Royal family in Port Harcourt. His father King Eugene William Dappa Pepple II, Perekule IX was the Amanyanabo of Bonny from 1957 to 1972.

King Edward bagged a Bachelor of Science Degree(Bsc) in Accounting from the then Rivers State University of Science and Technology Nkoplu, Port Harcourt.

This merit enabled him to secure a job at Allied Bank Plc. Following the transmigration of his uncle, King Captain Opuada Secondus Pepple, Perekule X, he was forced to leave his job and ascend the throne of his fathers.




Ooni of Ile-ife
The most Powerful King in Yoruba land according to most scholars is Oba Adeyeye Ogunwusi Eniitan - the current Ooni of Ife.

This elite Nigerian traditional ruler was born in 1974 and was crowned Ooni of Ife in 2015 after the death of his predecessor.

Oba Adeyeye is a highly respected ruler and highly Educated. His Majesty Graduated with distinction in Accounting from Ibadan Polytechnic, he is also one of the top members of the Institute of Chartered Accountants of Nigeria and the Chancellor at the University of Nigeria.


Alaafin of Oyo

While the tussle as to who is the most influential between the Alaafin of Oyo and the Ooni of Ife rages on, note that this influential traditional ruler is the second Richest Kings in the Yoruba land. Lamidi Olayiwole III is the current Alaafin of Oyo who was crowned in 1970.

Before he became the Alaafin, he was and is still a business man. He served as an insurance clerk to a firm and he was also engaged in boxing. For a maximum of 12 years, he was the Chancellor of the University of Sokoto. The Alaafin of Oyo one of the most powerful monarchs in the country especially to the Yoruba speaking community.


Sultan of Sokoto

Sultan Muhammadu Sa’ad Abubakar IV is one of the richest kings in Nigeria, highly respected and powerful in the Northern part of the country.
He is also considered as the Spiritual Leader of the Muslims residing in the country today.

He has lots of assets, investments and has occupied various revered positions in the country. As of present, the Sultan of Sokoto is the chairman of the Nigerian Council of Traditional Rulers and the head of the Nigerian National Supreme Council for Islamic Affairs (NSCIA).
