This is to inform the uninformed through this medium,that the 1979 presidential election which was contested by five candidates of five political parties;Alhaji Shahu Shagari of the NPN,Chief Obafemi Awolowo of the UPN,Dr Nnamdi Azikwe of the NPP,Alhaji Aminu Kanu of the PRP and Alhaji Waziri Ibrahim of the GNPP,was the first time that the country will be introduced to the presidential system of government.

However,our concern is the errorneous belief or insinuations that the Igbos in the National Party of Nigeria (NPN)then, play any significant role in the victory of Alhaji Shahu Shagari in the 1979 presidential election.Please be informed that Shagari's victory in that keenly contested election has Nothing do we Igbos supports or not but that was brought into POWER BY SOLELY NORTHERN VOTES.Even with this the Igbos benefited most in terms of political offices held despite with THEIR INCONSEQUENTIAL SUPPORT,this i mean they held the post of the vice-president as well as the speaker.Below are the result:

Now,with this result,whereby the the total votes scored by both Awolowo and Azikwe which represent Southern votes when added together it would still be far below all the votes of the three Northern candidates put together.

SO,THE POINT TO TAKE FROM THIS IS THAT,THE IGBOS ARE TRUELY THE 5%ERS, THAT THEY ARE BEING CALLED,THE SAME THING REPEATED ITS SELF IN THE 2019 PRESIDENTIAL ELECTION LAST YEAR,WHEREBY 21% OF THE VOTES WAS GIVEN TO ATIKU ABUBABAR DESPITE FIELDING ONE THEM AS HIS VICE-PRESIDENTIAL CANDIDATE IN THAT ELECTION.

Sorry,you have no such power,nobody has!
