How To Recover Formatted SD Card Using Command Prompt? by shalinipatil: 9:01pm On May 02, 2020
Don't worry if you've formatted an SD memory card or USB flash drive. In this case, Windows Command Prompt, also known as CMD, can be used to retrieve formatted data from your SD card. And if it doesn't work, you can still recover the lost file using a data recovery software (discussed in detail at the bottom of the post).

How to recover files from formatted USB drive?

Sometimes when you can't find a file on your SD card but are sure you haven't deleted it because you haven't formatted the disk, the file can simply be concealed. Use the command prompt to check this, and make it quite clear. If you start the program as an administrator, the program doesn't ask you intrusive questions, and the recovery of data will be easier.

● Locate CMD, right-click it, and select "Run as administrator." The service will start with administrative access.
● Now enter the following command (remove the “ ” sign when you type on the command line): “attrib -h -r -s /s /d d:\*.*". And then press the Enter button on your keyboard.
● All letters entered delete all protected SD card characteristics. After entering the command and pressing Enter or Yes, the process will begin. Once it gets finished restart the system and reopen the SD card. This should bring the hidden folders and files and make them visible on the screen.

Facing CMD issues? Try this

One issue you can experience is denied access. This is because the computer feels you don't have proper authorities for the operation. To correct this, please check the following:

● Make sure you are logging as an administrator in the Command Prompt.
● Make sure all computer software are closed throughout the process. You may start the computer in safe mode.
● Make sure you have all of the authorizations on this device.
● Using CMD again, you can then attempt to recover files from an SD card.

Still Struggling? Try This Easy Solution

Amrev Data Recovery software can restore data to the SD card from any format. The program runs on Windows, and all the OS versions are supported. You only have to decide on a particular version of the software: licensed or free trial. You won't miss anything by selecting the trial edition, since the Preview feature is safe. Then, just buy a license to save the discovered files and you'll obtain a license key instantly after payment and can save your data to some other media.
