In other news, the weather is beautiful today and I’m having a beer outside with my colleagues. Some of you have been praying for me or wishing me well and I can feel it. Good things have been happening to me lately and I want you guys to know. So thank you. Remember I told you guys that I could not rent my own apartment because of my Schufa problem? I found an apartment last week and I signed the contract. I now have my own apartment and don’t have to share with anybody. The Landlord didn’t worry about the Schufa. I have other testimonies but I’m still thinking if I should share them or not. I’ll give it time. I just want to say, thank you for the kind wishes and for riding with me. Even though I’m not obligated to write these things, we are benefitting from each other in some way. I am sharing, I am healing, you are listening, we are learning, and we are succeeding. I’ll be out of Germany for a few days but I’ll check in from time to time. I just may not be able to write long texts until I get back. Next, I’ll talk about my travel story to Germany and my first months here, including my student life. Also about other countries, plus more pictures. Thanks
This would be interesting. I look forward to your post. 2 Likes 1 Share |

Danielhouston: This is a falsehood. Children not visiting their parents is an exception not the rule. The average German is very conservative when it comes to family values and has very close family ties. I wonder how people come to the conclusion that Germans are not close to their parents and neglect them. How many such families have you known? 2 Likes |

Danielhouston: Germans won't like you if you don't speak German properly no matter if you are black or white so they not liking you could be because after seven years you still don't speak German properly. Die, den, der, das differ in meaning. |

Keiris: You are questioning how he came to the conclusion that Germans don’t visit their parents, then YOU came to the conclusion that Germans don’t like him or anybody that does not speak Deutsch properly. You see how some of u shoot ur selves in the leg? Who told u told you that Germans don’t like people who can’t speak German properly?? So which means Germans hate almost every foreigner in Germany?? But they still offer jobs to people who don’t even speak German. Make it make sense?? 18 Likes 1 Share |

emeka55: Germans will always tell you that you have to speak German when you live in Germany. You will make this experience countless times if you don't learn German. Even when immigration is discussed on TV in political talkshows the issue that some foreigners refuse to learn German will always come up. When Germans complain about foreigners one of the reasons is that some of them refuse to learn to speak German. How did you come to the conclusion that almost every foreigner doesn't speak German in Germany? |

Keiris: So because Germans tell you that you have to speak German that means they won’t like you if you don’t speak German?? |

There seems to be this belief that OP's tales cannot be critiqued or objected whereas this isn't the diary section where only the poster is allowed to post. The reality is: not everyone will agree with what OP writes no matter how coherent he writes. People will always have divergent opinions especially if they believe their experiences need to be aired to counter what they read. As long as these opinions are logical, coherent and free of insults, there's no point hiding posts or banning moniker because they disagreed with the OP. If OP doesn't want divergent opinions on a free-to-comment thread, it's best the thread gets moved to a section where only his posts will be allowed. Funny enough, people who believe OP's posts should be the alpha and omega (note: on a free-to-comment thread) are those who claim to promote free speech, liberal opinions and diversity. However, in reality just like we've witnessed, they practice what they don't preach while preaching what they don't practice. 26 Likes 2 Shares |
