In the past parents just educated the eldest brother, who would then go on to pay for the education of the younger ones.

Those days are GONE.

Now you who had the children, must pay to educate your own children.

You are NOT ENTITLED to other people's money, not even in the name of "culture".

This is the new way.

RE: EDUCATION IN NIGERIAN/AFRICAN PUBLIC SCHOOLS

Citizens especially PARENTS need to be made aware:
• To be sustainable, education is NEVER FREE, it is normally funded by taxes.
• Parents MUST get involved in stopping corruption so that public money can be spent on properly equipping their children’s schools.
• Parents have a RESPONSIBILITY to part fund their children’s education by providing what they need for homework.
• Parents should COLLABORATE with schools to get special very low interest education loans from microfinance banks to equip schools.
• Parents should ENSURE that the church or mosque they attend contributes on a regular basis (eg weekly) to equipping their child’s school.
• Parents should realise it is no longer acceptable for them to lie back and do nothing while expecting teachers, NGOs and others to find funding for their own children’s education.

These 2 points need broadcasting and to happen in Nigeria:

• Parents should COLLABORATE with schools to get special very low interest education loans from microfinance banks to equip schools.

• Parents should ENSURE that the church or mosque they attend contributes on a regular basis (eg weekly) to equipping their child’s school.
