The Honourable Commissioner for Works in Akwa Ibom State, Akparawa Ephraim Inyangenyen has assured Akwa Ibom State, its residents and the global community that the 300 capacity Isolation Center For Quarantine And Prevention of Infectious Disease constructed by His Excellency Governor Udom Emmanuel will be commissioned next week.

Akparawa Ephraim Inyang made this declaration on Monday while embarking on the spot assessment to ascertain the level of work ongoing at the site with journalists in the state.

The 300 capacity Isolation Center For Quarantine And Prevention of Infectious Disease which is located at Methodist General Hospital, Ituk Mbang, Uruan Local Government Area is built by the led administration of His Excellency Governor Udom Emmanuel, the Executive Governor of Akwa Ibom State as part of his proactive measures to contain and fight against the global ravage Covid-19 pandemic in the state.

Akparawa Inyangenyen stated that the isolation center is built with a standardized and world class sophisticated equipments cum facilities which will stand the taste of time in the history of any isolation centers in West Africa thereby complementing the already two centers, i.e IDH at Ikot Ekpene and Ibom Specialist Hospital in Uyo respectively.

He also stated that His Excellency Governor Udom Emmanuel in furtherance of his avowed determination and commitment to chat a new course for Akwa Ibom State is passionate about the health care, lives and properties of the citizens most especially at this trying time.

While taking journalist in the state around the center, he explained that the isolation center is characterized by 300 capacity bed center divided into wards, Doctors Quarters where the medical doctors will conveniently reside in order to discharge their duties efficiently, Medical Doctors Office, Laboratory, Canteen and a clinical unit with a 24 hours power supply around the vicinity.

"Today we can stand tall to boast of the gigantic and unprecedented leadership prowess of our dear Governor. He has shown magnificent solidarity in joining other parts of the world to fight the global pandemic.

"This 300 capacity Isolation Center is one of his remarkable strides during this period and every other measures taken by the administration to protect, guide and defend the interest of every Akwa Ibom person.

"The center will also be effectively used after the world might have overcome this pandemic for other emerging health issues in the state, indeed, this is an applause to the Governor". He opined.


Recall, the foundation for the isolation center was laid on the Monday 9th April, 2020 which today the level of work ongoing is at 95% completion.

The works commissioner used the occasion to condemn the quantum of blackmail, character defamation be it slander or libel on the reverend reputation of Akwa Ibom leaders and the government sponsored by enemies of progress in an attempt to demarket the state.

He however called on Akwa Ibomites to desist from such an inconsequential and noxious act, join hands with the leader of the state, His Excellency Governor Udom Emmanuel to build Akwa Ibom of our dream for the benefit of our future generation.

Consequently, Mr. Udom Emmanuel, the Executive Governor of Akwa Ibom State is expected to visit the site within the week to ascertain the level of work ongoing at the center before the official commissioning by next week.
