Taking a deeper view of myself
Looking through the murky sea of my life
Realising that in my mortal flesh
I am carrying the treasure of eternal life.
Sober as I cross my heart
Drowning in my flood of unrelenting tears
Remorseful that my heart is tanned
Pleading for a heart anew.
Like the Firefly, my goodness now twinkles
Leaving my weaknesses dull and fading
Exuding the inner beauty long blighted
With heaviness of sin as thick as mud.
Save, oh Lord, this soul that has strayed
You who understands the mystery underlying my dust
Who sees the dark corners of my soul
Yet, gently smoothens and buffs my rough edges.
