Wouldn't it be logical for the US to encourage such strong institutions, individuals and processes to checkmate the leaders of these countries instead of trying to topple their government.

This is the major reason why many countries hate Americans. They impose and/or manipulate the leadership of other countries of the world. A lot of conspiracy theories has been fabricated against them because of this.

How do you do that when the politicians are masters in dividing the populace on the wrong notions, while the people are rendered too poor to have a say other than seek their daily bread.

You say most hate Americans but would scramble for the American dream via any means neccessary...

If you believe that the US government actually funded this shoddy job, then you can believe just about anything.

This is definitely another "Wonga Coup". It's definitely a privately-funded invasion by some desperate American businessmen and possibly a number of Venezuelan opposition figures in exile in the USA.

What could be in it for the businessmen and their Venezuelan co-conspirators??
Simple gas concessions for the businessmen and political control for the Venezuelan political exiles.

I don't believe for a second that this badly put together invasion could have been planned out by the government of Sao Tomé and Principe. Not to talk of the US.

No proper State actor would go the extent of ridiculing himself by organizing such a charade. Just look at how easily they were caught. It all goes to show that an amateur was entirely behind this nonsense.

Yes, Maduro will definitely pounce on this and make a hell of a noise out of it because it sits well with his anti-US propaganda strategies. It is normal.

But if this had somehow succeeded, trust that the US government would have given it some forms of tacit approval. No doubt about that.

But looking at it, hindsight now, there was no way that such a shabby attempt would have succeeded.

I mean, look at that very fat guy in that 3rd picture. His shirt can barely cover his stomach.
Balloons don't participate in coups you know?

Just look at this. I found this online a few minutes ago.

Trump has failed again.

Ordinary coup he can't accurately conduct. He should go and learn from Obama. Less talk, more action.

He will never listen to the experts. Mr. Know it all.
I believe this coup might be private sponsored.

The moment two U.S. former special forces soldiers were arrested in Venezuela was dramatically caught on video as their 'plot to assassinate President Nicolás Maduro' was foiled.

The coup was coordinated by an ex-Green Beret named Jordan Goudreau, 43, who says the objective was to capture Maduro. Goudreau claims to have built a force of 300 men, reportedly backed by US billionaires.

President Maduro called the arrested men 'terrorist mercenaries’ and blamed the attacks on the Trump administration, Venezuela's opposition leader Juan Guaidó and neighboring Colombia, all of which have denied involvement.

Anybody that believes that US military planned this amatyre assassination attempt on a seating head of state should think again .....if CIA wanted maduro dead , he will not be alive by now...and again the days of thus kind of elementary open ended assassination of a seating president is gone....if they want you out, they use internal crisis and politics......thus is not a US government planned attack....

The United States is really interested and invested in Venezuela from a warfare perspective and an economic perspective.

1. Venezuela is a socialist state and Maduro is an enemy of the U.S. An enemy of the U.S. is automatically a friend of Russia and China.

A ballistic missile attack by Russia or China into the U.S. will be easier if the range is closer i.e launching your missiles from Venezuela.

And that was what the whole Cuban Missile Crisis of 1962 was all about. Russia wanted to use Cuba as a base for its missiles and the U.S. refused. That conflict almost led to a nuclear war.

2. At 300 billion barrels, Venezuela has the largest proven oil reserves in the world. Larger than Saudi Arabia, Iran, US, or Russia. Any country who controls the President of Venezuela controls the oil.

The assassination attempt will never stop as long as Maduro remains in power.

The same US wants to put Missiles in Ukraine Russia refused and now Russia is the bad guy

You are talking about the Bay of Pigs which is just one attempt.

We are talking about a system that has a high track record of unseat unfriendly regimes all around the globe.

Don't just dismiss what the man you quoted has said. He has a point.

If the US wants to get Maduro, they won't do it in this haphazard and half-hearted manner. Trust me.

He is pretty much a major target.

I understand, but my point is; world power countries shouldn't manipulate government of other countries. If a country like America or UK or Russia has incompetent leader, no other country dares to topple the government.

Then why do that to other countries. What's the point of sovereignty.
I believe their should be genuine checks and balances, some country cannot govern themselves, the people of Venezuela are suffering under the leadership of one man and can't do nothing.

Tito never really had problems with the West or the US.

Remember, he[along with Nicolae Ceaușescu of Romania] was one of the few leaders of the Communist Bloc/world that had a robust diplomatic rapprochement and exchange with the West.

So, why would have made them want to overthrow him?

As a matter of fact, Tito feared Stalin more than he did the West because Stalin tried on several attempts to overthrow him.
