Almajirai not palliatives, stop distributing them to Nigerians, CAN tells Kano


The Christian Association of Nigeria ,Anambra State chapter, has asked Kano State to stop distributing almajirai to other parts of the country.

It alleged that almajirai from Kano state were being shipped down to other parts of the country.

The body in a statement by its Chairman, Rev Ndubuisi John wondered the reason behind such act putting into consideration the health and security implications of such act.

It said most of the almajirai sent to Sokoto, Jigawa and Kaduna states from Kano were carriers of the Covid-19 virus.

The statement read in part, "In as much as we commensurate with Kano State over the loss of their loved ones to mysterious deaths and covid -19, we still want to know, what in the world could be the cogent excuse for Kano State to permit trailers loaded with human beings which many of them were corona virus carriers to leave Kano state borders and crossing over sister states in Nigeria to penetrate their cities.

"Could this be a pallative measure to decongest the corona virus from suffocating its orbits? Can any blind man in Nigeria deny hearing the horrifying jingles of covid 19 in Nigeria and global wise?

"Can the deaf and dumb men and women deny seeing the masses in the streets of the cities of Nigeria putting on face masks, washing of hands and using sanitizers?

"Would the elite claim ignorant of the Federal governments efforts in profering measures in combating this horrible and deadly virus in the country?

And some people here was saying Almajiris are free to live in any part of the country.
Those who said so are either Almajiris themselves or they don't know who the Almajiris are.
As fas as I know, south west do not practice the Almajiri system or do we now have Quranic masters who teaches Almajiris in the south west? I am yet to see one.
Almajiris remains northern property, they instituted the system so let them deal with it.

And those shouting are we not one in Nigeria, so it is when it comes to Almajiri that you people are shouting are we not one Nigeria. We are not one anything!
