Badeggi in the Katcha Local Government Area of Niger State was thrown into confusion when one of the passengers that violated the interstate night travel ban died in a commercial vehicle.

It was learnt that a commercial bus with registration number, JJJ 349 XN, was travelling from Lagos to a northern state through the Bida- Badeggi-Lambata high way when the vehicle broke down at Badeggi.

Our correspondent gathered that one George Udom, alerted the Niger State Task Force on COVID-19 to the presence of the bus at Badeggi in the early hours of Thursday.

The Bida zonal unit of the task force upon getting there discovered that one of the passengers suspected to be a COVID -19 patient had died.

The Chairman of the state COVID-19 task force, who is also the Secretary to Niger State Government, Ibrahim Matane, briefed Governor Abubakar Bello about the development.

Director General of ICT and Public Enlightenment in the Governor’s Office, Abdul Bergki, who also confirmed this in his official Twitter handle, said, “To avoid infection, the chairman has been directed to call mechanics, fix the vehicle and escort the bus out of Niger State with security personnel back to where they are coming from and hand them over to the authorities there.
“All those to be involved must wear face mask, hand gloves, eyeglasses before touching the vehicle for repairs.”

And some are blaming Wike. Ask how the vehicle could travel from lagos to Niger state unstoppable?our security team are compromised, governors need to wake up, beef up their games against the saboteurs among us. Let their be state paid or volunteer guards to man the entrance of each states/town/Community, let's just leave our FG out of this for now.

With Gov Wike's actions of yesterday, he will have fewer people to chase away today

The first rule of beating covid-19 is discipline.

This discipline enabled the Chinese to beat the virus.

Covid-19 is real. Please let not joke with it.

If you are sick or not feeling well, please self isolate.

A stricter measure should be taken against anyone found violating the inter-state lockdown restriction. If not nipped in the bud as fast as possible, it will render our collective efforts at controlling the spread of the virus futile.

Though, I would have suggested that they should be shot at sight, but I won't undecided

Corruption will destroy this country......the FACT that people still travel from the south to the north and vice versa speaks so much about how much of a failed government and porous security network we have in the country

There are some monikers on Nairaland that never contributes anything sensible to this forum.

I suggest Seun should create an Anti-spam bot that will automatically detect and hide their comments as soon as they are posted.

To save a lot of us from reading rubbish

How did the bus get to Niger from Lagos with tens of checkpoints?...

Maybe it's time to call in the military, these NPF officers may just be toll-gates...
